Today I thought I'd just pop in and share a quick project with you all. You see I am always experimenting with my paint supplies and coming up with new to me ideas and projects.
This box was in my possession for many years. I used it to store beloved photos and cards. But when I was packing for the big move, I decided to give it as a gift. But not in that horrible condition.
You'll have to forgive me for the lack of photos but I was in such a hurry to finish the project and do the packing. As you may have guessed this project was done in Greece before the move. You can see that I was in such a rush I started painting it before I had a photo.
And so today I am sharing how to give an "old world" look to a plain box. And maybe even finish packing! ;)
Today is a special day! I have a very good friend visiting me all the way from Indiana. It is non other than Nikki Frank Hamilton who blogs over at View From in Here. Nikki has her own shop, the Make Lemonade Shop, where she makes handmade pillows and she is here to share a tutorial with us on how to make a DIY Graphic Pillow - with or without a sewing machine. And she is giving us the graphic for free here. Nikki take it away!
I've always wanted to visit the Greece that Mary shares on her blog, haven't you? The color of the sky and ocean is bluer than I've ever seen; and having the option of dipping my toes in the water while listening to the waves, or taking a drive up into the mountains, is so cool!
Would you believe it is time for school to begin? Why in fact schools have already started in many parts of the world.
I did a casual survey on my Facebook page and found out that the traditional school opening of Labor Day and after, no longer seems to apply! In fact most of the readers who answered said school starts before Labor day in their regions. And let's not talk about South Africa, they start in January! That one totally threw me off.
Well I think those poor kids should have a few more weeks of relaxation to drive mom crazy just a bit more "wink"! But when they do finally go back to school, why not give them a gift to celebrate. But not any gift! Here are my 16 fun and easy Back to School DIY gift ideas.
This is a special post. It comes from the heart. It is all about finding trash and making the best of it. It is also KariAnne's story. Yes, the KariAnne of Thistlewood Farms that inspired me to paint my happy chairs! It is all about a nautical sign that is So Close To Amazing!
And now you are wondering, what the heck am I talking about? What is this so close to amazing?
It is a moment! A feeling you get...
When you get this close and then ... you just don't make it to the finish line.
You get this close... and the meal still doesn't turn out the way it's meant to.
When you get this close ... and the diy project does not live up to your vision.
With mother's day right around the corner I am scheming to get my kids to do right by me this year. I certainly cannot make a gift for myself! But I can ask my talented friends to share their amazing DIY gift ideas for Mother's Day with all of us.
Hopefully this will inspire some members of your family, and primarily mine, to get going and pamper mom on Mother's Day with a nice homemade gift or two. Because that's what this mom really wants!
