As I was taking a walk along the beach with the hubby, we discovered this lovely. It was a life saver and we decided to save it.
Όπως έκανα μια βόλτα στην παραλία με το σύζυγο, ανακαλύψαμε αυτό το υπέροχο πράγμα.
My hubby who is an avid fisherman, immediately picked it up and examined it. He noticed that it was damaged otherwise he could have used it on his boat.
Ο σύζυγος μου ο οποίος είναι φανατικός ψαράς, αμέσως το πήρε και το εξέτασε. Παρατήρησε ότι είχε υποστεί βλάβη, διαφορετικά θα μπορούσε να το χρησιμοποιήσει στη βάρκα του.
And since when are we afraid of a little damage? We, who as partners have leaped into the world of DIY’s and are fearless in the face of defects? We looked at each other and … game on!! We would nurse this baby back to health!
Και από πότε φοβόμαστε μια μικρή ζημιά; Εμείς, οι οποίοι ως εταίροι έχουμε μπει στο κόσμο του DIY και είμαστε ατρόμητοι στο πρόσωπο των ελαττωμάτων; Κοιτάξαμε ο ένας τον άλλο και … ώρα για δράση !! Θα περιποιηθούμε αυτό το μωρό πίσω στην υγεία!
He applied polyester resin to the damage. And then placed the fiberglass sheet on top. Then more polyester resin to soak the sheet. These bond together to form a solid fiberglass material which is very strong.
Έβαλε
πολυεστερική ρητίνη για τη ζημία. Και στη συνέχεια τοποθέτησε το φύλλο υαλοβάμβακα από πάνω. Στη συνέχεια, έβαλε κι άλλη πολυεστερική ρητίνη να απορροφηθεί από το φύλλο. Αυτά δένουν μαζί για να σχηματίσουν ένα στερεό υλικό υαλοβάμβακα που είναι πολύ ισχυρή.

He ended up putting three sheets of the fiberglass and then soaked them in resin.
Κατέληξε βάζοντας τρία φύλλα του υαλοβάμβακα και στη συνέχεια τα μούσκεψε με ρητίνη.
We let it dry overnight and then sanded it to get rid of the sharp edges. No more damage!
Το αφήσαμε να στεγνώσει αποβραδίς και στη συνέχεια το τρίψαμε για να απαλλαχτούμε από τις αιχμηρές άκρες. Δεν υπάρχει πλέον η ζημιά!
I sealed it with some tape for extra protection from the fiberglass. At this point, he could have taken it to the boat, but he didn’t need it just yet. He wanted it as a spare. So we made a deal. I would use it as decoration and when he needed it I would hand it over. Now it was my turn to take over.
Το σφράγισα με κάποια ταινία για επιπλέον προστασία από τη υαλοβάμβακα.

I cut up an old jean dress into strips and wrpped them around the lifesaver. And some twine and a ribbon. You would be surprised at how much clothing I have begun to hoard ever since I started this blog. Is this a good thing?

ναυαγοσώστη. Και λίγο σπάγγο και κορδέλα. Θα εκπλαγείτε πόσα ρούχα έχω αρχίσει να συσσωρεύω από τότε που ξεκίνησα αυτό το blog. Αυτό είναι καλό πράγμα;
And here we have the finished product…ooops!! Nature getting in the way of my photography session!
Και εδώ έχουμε το τελικό προϊόν … ουπς !! Η φύση με τον τρόπο της, μπαίνει στην φωτογραφία μου!

We repaired the lifesaver, a poor, lost on the beach life saver, turned it into a free wall decoration. And if need be, the hubs has a spare lifesaver for his boat – after all he did half the work, the least I can do is share!
Επισκευάσαμε
ένα φτωχό, χαμένο στην παραλία ναυαγοσώστη, το μετατρέψαμε σε δωρεάν διακόσμηση τοίχου. Και αν χρειαστεί, ο συζυγος έχει ένα ανταλλακτικό ναυαγοσώστη για το σκάφος του – Άλλωστε έκανε τη μισή δουλειά, το λιγότερο που μπορώ να κάνω είναι να το μοιραστούμε!
