Μου το είχαν δώσει ως δώρο, αλλά είχε δει καλύτερες μέρες. Και γιατί να το κρατήσω κρυμμένο σε ένα ράφι, αφού, θα μπορούσα να τα εκθέσω;
Well, that was a very easy way to change up my artwork. And the best part, because I’ve got a book full of Artwork by Georgia O’Keefe, I can transform my wall any time I feel like it by using different colored prints as accent colors.

This was such a good idea, I think Georgia O’Keefe was a great artist. Plus like you say, you can change it up when the mood strikes. Your daughter is so talented, but then so is her mother.
Georgia is an inspiration to us all. I’ve had that book forever and yet never took the time to enjoy it because it was hiding in the bookcase so this was the perfect opportunity. Thank you Debra!
Mary, well it’s clear that the creative gene runs strong in your family. I really enjoyed seeing the process your daughter went through to create her painting. And that GIF at the end…Did she do that too?
What a great way to repurpose a book filled with lovely pictures. Georgia O’Keefe truly did have a way with color, but given the neutral shells you chose, she was just flat out a gifted artist.
Thanks for sharing your redecorating process.
Wishing you a lovely day, Lynn
Thank you Lynn for all your sweet words. I try to encourage my little one to follow her dream and dream big at that. Because I know that’s the only way we can be content in life. Thank you for all your wonderful comments.
I really like Georgia O’Keefe work. I lived in NM for twenty years and of course, she is a favorite there. The pictures you choose looks great in those frames. I also like the Galaxy – its beautiful.
I’m really trying to tone down the room so I use a lot of black and white, and hope fully in the summer I’ll be able to paint the walls. Georgia’s book is full of rich tones that reflect the NM desert, beautiful.
Mary, you know how much I like changing out my art on the walls, so this is right up my alley! I love the simplicity of those prints and the neutral colours as well! Your daughters choices in blue are quite amazing as well! It’s nice to change things up with little effort, isn’t it!?
That is really the best Katrin, easy decorating that makes a difference.I had that book tucked away for years and it was just collecting dust. I’m so glad I rediscovered it.
Mary, I love your new artwork!!! Georgia ans your daughter give your living room such a beautiful look!!! Framing pages is so easy and fun, not to mention inexpensive!! I did this with a children’s book by Stevenson for my kids’ room a few years ago. I love keeping my eyes peeled for books begging to be framed. 😉 Btw, your daughter’s painting is awesome sauce!!!
Keri thanks for the awesome compliment, I’ll definitely tell my girl. I too love to look through my bookcase to come up with simple and inexpensive ideas.
Oh my goodness, what a neat idea! I love what you’ve done, Mary.
Thank you Regina. The book was going to waste in my shelf and it was not going to improve any time soon. I had it near a dam p area sn some of the pages had water marks. So this was a very practical solution.
I love how you were able to bring these prints back to life, Mary. I also like your choice of frames. It really bring out the beauty of the awesome Georgia O’Keefe works of art.
Ilka, and to think I had them sitting under my nose all these years and had forgotten about them till I redid the bookcase recently.
I love how you change your decor – and I am a big fan of Georgia O’Keefe. What a good way to enjoy art books – which seldom get looked at otherwise.
Susan yo uhit the nail on the head. We buy art books and then just keep them on a shelf. This is a great way to show them off.

I really like the effect from folding the edges back, but I would never have thought to cut the corners to make it work better. I love the way the colours all work together too.
Folding the corners back hat way helps give it definition and dimension. Also I’m not a straight cutter so the folded sides look better that way.
I love this idea of using these prints from a book. I’ve even seen calendar art and photography that has been framed and turned into beautiful art for any room. These look great, Mary!
I have all these books with pretty pictures and I thought to myself, why not put them on the wall to enjoy them all day?
I’ve always love Georgia Okeefe art! Also like the way you tucked your corners of the prints! Smart & I’ll use that in the future:) Thanks for sharing:)
Wendi the tucking in saves me the trouble of having to cut straight edges and it also gives dimension to the print. So there is a reason behind my method. Thanks for your visit.
That is such a fabulous idea, Mary!!! I need to go thrifting and try to find some art books….Rothko would be such a dream find.
Much love,
Erica
Erica you don’t need to find any art books, you are a Rothko all by yourself! Stay well, and I’m guessing it’s almost time?
Mary, I love your idea of framing prints from an old book. And I must say, your daughter’s painting just blew me away! What talent she has! As much as I love to craft and create, the one thing that I’ve never been quite able to master is drawing and painting by hand. That is a true gift! I love her galaxy painting! It is so beautiful, and the video of her creating it was so neat!
Celeste, it was an opportnity for me to display these beautiful prints that were hiding in the book all these years. As for my little one, I try to encourage her as much as I can, because like you I cannot draw to save my life. At least I get to enjoy her work. Thank you!
What a great idea to take prints from an old book and frame them. What is great about this is that you can change it out seasonally, put the Christmas prints back in for a time, and it is cheap and easy to do!
Exactly Michelle, and we like easy, frugal and to be able to change it up all the time, so we don’t get bored.
What a great idea! I have used calendars and gift wrap in frames. A little creative thinking goes a long way.
Thanks so much for being part of the lovely crowd at Thoughts of Home on Thursday. 🙂
Thank you Stacey, I love to use everyday objects and things to decorate around the house.
Nice!! You know what would be sweet, is a gallery wall above your sofa with even more of Georgia O’Keeffe’s framed art. Just say’n!
Oh I would love that Marie, but I try to keep this stuff to a minimum because we have earthquakes and sometimes things can get messy.
Great tip and what a difference it makes! Loved this DIY! thank you so much for sharing at my craft party! I pin all your instructional posts 😉
Thank you Denise. It was simple and yet that little trick made all the difference.
Hi Mary,
Georgia O’Keeffe has always been one of my favorites! I love the two you chose to frame for your living room, they are perfect! And cutting the corners – that is brilliant! I love the blue ones that you did for your daughters room too!
That Galaxy painting is beautiful! So talented!
I hope that you are having a wonderful weekend!! Big Hugs!! Kimberley
Kimberly she truly is a remarkable artist. I love the different phases of her work. Lucky for me it all looks good in my house. You too Kimberly have a wonderful weekend.
Thank you for sharing at the Thursday Favorite Things blog hop
Thank you Betty.
You’ve given me a great idea for decorating our Greek Stone House on the Hill! Thank you~
I’m so glad when I can inspire Jackie. Looking forward to seeing what you do with your stone house on the hill.
Mary, you talented daughter takes after you! I am a fan of blue too! Great way to save money and reuse. Thanks for sharing your idea with us.
Thank you for your sweet comment Sherry, I am a proud mama when it comes to that girl of mine.
I have the opportunity to visit the Georgia O’Keefe museum in Santa Fe. It was amazing.
Thank you so very much for linking up on Thoughts of Home on Thursday. You truly added a sweet sparkle of sunshine.
Oh I wish I could have gone to visit with you, she is such an inspiration.
Georgia O’Keeffe is one of my favorite artists. I think my mom used to have that very same book. The painting you chose to display look perfect with your neutral-color room.
Thanks Rebecca, that book has to be at least 25 years old. and it was just taking up space on my book case. I’m glad I found a way to rediscover Georgia.
Mary,
The prints are spectacular and really look lovely in your black frames! Such a great idea to use the prints from the book. The blue prints in your daughter’s room are pretty cool too. A genius tip to fold the prints for definition (and to hide a not so straight line)! Tweeting and pinning to share! Hope you are having a great week!
Thanks for linking up for Snickerdoodle Sunday!
~Laurie
Thank you Laurie for all your sweet comments. It was an easy project but with impact.
Mary, I love Georgia O’Keefe’s work. What a wonderful way to showcase — and appreciate — her art. I have dozens of art books just sitting on shelves. You’ve just reminded me that art should be enjoyed. I also liked watching your daughter painting the galaxy. Thanks.
Ann Marie, that was the same exact conclusion I came to. It should be enjoyed not stay hidden in shelves. Thank yo ufor your sweet compliment.
These look really awesome! Thanks so much for sharing at Funtastic Friday!
Thank you Lindsay. They brighten up the whole room.
I have a huge wall in my living room just waiting for pictures like this!
Nice & easy upgrade, my kind of project. Thanks for linking up to Merry Monday! Sharing on MM Pinterest Board! Have a great week!
Kim
Thank you Kim. I like the easy ones too.
Mary, that Galaxy painting is insanely good! Love the Georgia OKeeffe too. Thanks for sharing at Five Star Frou-Frou this week. Love, Mimi xxx
Mimi, I’ll be sure to pass on your compliment to my daughter.
I loved the prints and the tip about the folding, but most of all I loved your daughter’s painting and the video! She is really creative and talented!
Thank you so much Katerina! She is so passionate about her galaxys she even has one on her back pack.
Georgia is one of my favorites!!! Great job…love the painting video!
Thanks Michelle, I’m pretty proud of that painting too. And how she had the tenacity to film it!
Mary, these look so awesome! Georgia O’Keeffe is one of my favorites, I love her floral paintings, they are so detailed and I love her focus on the curves of the flower! I had not seen any of these more modern prints, they look great the way you’ve matted them, showcasing the art!
Nikki, it’s better then having them hiding between book covers. I also love her flower prints, but I was looking for something with black accents.
oh mary, you’re not going to believe it, but that skull images in the dessert is exactly the one I have in my living room. It’s on the front cover of a giant coffee table art book i have by her. i am a huge fan of her work and even went to her house in the dessert! Love this contribution to our SHARE IT LINKY PARTY. Thank you so much for linking up and doing the party together this week. I’ll post your ffree week advertisement tomorrow, okay?! Look forward to seeing new ideas from you sunday at the new Share It.
Rose, great minds think alike. I have the same exact coffee table book. That is so cool that you went to her house in the dessert. I’ll be looking forward to your new party this week.
I love the painting your daughter has done. It uses the colours so well. Really pretty. Great idea to re-purpose the Georgia O’Keefe book into new artwork. Very thrifty!

Thank you Sally, it is proudly hanging in my living room. I guess I don’t need to buy art, since I have my little artist.
I love how you made the artwork! Thank you for sharing and linking up with us over at the Welcome Home Wednesdays Link Party.
Thank you Lisa, it was an easy solution to a common problem.
Love your Georgia O’Keefe prints and The Galaxy. Recently had my bathroom painted and rehung a bunch of my Monets today (GW, yard sales, and Wal-Mart!). Rearranged them as painter filled in all the nails holes and like the new look. Sometimes it only takes a few little things to perk up a room (my mother always put up summer curtains and summer seatcovers!). You encouraged me NOT to feel guilty about cutting up some art books I have that have lovely pictures; you are absolutely right; art should be enjoyed, not left between pages of a book; thank you for this insight!
Kathy I am so happy to hear that. I just went down to the Strand bookstore here in NY. They have thousands of books outside the store and sell them for $2. I got two books one that has photography and and the other Impressionistic paintings so you can guess that I’ll be cutting that up sometime soon to turn into a project.
