Happy Fall Y’all! It is about time that things have cooled down a bit. It is the end of the month and that means it’s time for our Int’l Bloggers Club Challenge. Last month we shared with you back to school ideas and July was Summer Activities in Greece. For September’s challenge I am going to show you an easy fall wreath.
This month we are pleased to announce that we are adding a new member to the club, Michelle of A Crafty Mix. Michelle lives in South Africa and she will add lots of interest to our little group because while we have fall up here, she is just entering spring.

What is fall like here in Greece? Well, taking into account that I live in a coastal town, it is warmish with some rain here and there. Certainly nothing like I had been used to in New York, where Autumn puts on its royal colors. The beauty of fall may be evident in other areas of Greece, but in my boondocks it is a sad excuse for fall. And you all know how much I LOVE fall, so it is really disappointing for me.
This photo below represents fall in a nutshell, lots of sunshine and very few orange leaves.

The last time we were together I showed you my easy DIY fall eucalyptus vignette. Well after I finished the vignette, I had plenty of branches left over and decided to make a wreath. Because you can never have enough of those, especially in the Fall.

By bending the branches I was able to shape them into a circle. Some of the stubborn branches were secured using wire.

The circular shape of the eucalyptus branches.

I then looped twine all around the wreath…

I had gone to visit my oh-so-not-into-fall euro shop, and found these fake yellow flowers. Don’t they scream spring?

But you know I cannot leave well enough alone. I detached the tops of the flowers…

…and inserted real branches from a sage plant into the holes.

I then threaded the branches through the twine.

I then added some fresh hibiscus.
And this is what it looked like.

But I was not happy. Those fake yellow flowers looked too springy for my fall wreath. I took some paint and just lightly passed it across the tops of the flowers. I have done this before on my lopsided summer wreath here.

They now have a bit more depth.

It is so easy to combine the real flowers with the fake and it looks just fine.

I am now satisfied with this look. The eucalyptus leaves will dry out and turn to fall colors eventually and it will look like a different wreath. And I’ll have a bit of fall in my home.

That was easy enough, and I did not let the oh-so-not-into-fall euro shop get the best of me. I hope you have enjoyed my Easy Fall Wreath and if you are interested in making one I am including some links below with the supplies.
Do you decorate for the seasons or are you someone who prefers just a few changes?

Mary, I love your wreath. We have the same problem here when trying to find greenery for it, but those leaves are really beautiful, and the painted yellow flowers bring brightness. I have never done a "living" wreath and now I really want to get back home and search for some branches..

Pili I started incorporating nature into my crafts back when I did a heart made out of paper rolls. Since then I have looked for opportunities to add nature to a craft. I'm sure you will find lots to inspire you.

Mary, your fall wreath is so pretty!! You're so clever to think to paint the flowers to give them depth. You're right when the leaves dry it'll look even more like fall. I love decorating for different seasons although I've only just really started the past few years making and collecting seasonal decorations.

Hello Mary, beautiful, as always! I do like that special touch you gave the yellow flowers. It actually makes them look real (at first sight and truth be told, even at second glance). I wouldn't mind if you'd show us some pictures of the wreath when the leaves start changing colours. Guess the eucalyptus branches do not fade and go dry as soon as beech, oak or birch would. Have a creative week, Marjan

Marjan yellow would have been too boring. Sall is all about subtlety and shading. And I will show you some pictures of the wreath when it starts to change. That will be fun to see it in progress. Thanks for the idea!

That's beautiful Mary, I really like what you did with the yellow flowers. Adding a bit of paint made all the difference and it looks sooooo pretty next to the purple hibiscus.

It really does make a difference and who wants boring yellow, not that yellow is boring but you know what I mean.
