A Tour of the Balcony Part Two - Ξενάγηση του Μπαλκονιού  Δεύτερο Μέρος

Sharing is caring!

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of having all of you visit with me and tour my balcony… well, the western part of it anyway.  I really enjoyed showing you around and today I’m back with the second part of the balcony tour.

As I had mentioned in my previous post, the balcony wraps around three sides of the house.  The morning sun hits the eastern side.

I’ve got lots of  plants that will not die despite my brown thumb, mostly succulents and aloe vera. The barrel was upcycled. Originally it was storage for olive oil.

I have also placed another laminate board on this end of the balcony.  It cuts down on the heat and also gives us a little bit of privacy. I actually hand painted this one to mimic the fabric on the original board. I call it my cheerful experiment

We  spend our mornings on the west side and when the sun moves over there, we have our afternoon coffee  here.  A few words about this “table”.  The base is actually from a  toddler seat that long ago fell apart.  Everything gets repurposed.

The top is a dresser drawer that I had transformed into  a backgammon tray here. I just flipped it over and added some visual interest by mod podging this small poster .

It’s a copy of a  painting by the folk painter Theophilos, who painted murals for food because he was so poor. ”Street of Mytilene during the Turkish occupation”

Once we turn the corner we are in the north section. This area gets sun all day long. For that reason we rarely use it. As you can see I am in the middle of some pallet projects. Keeping it real folks.

I just said there is sun here all day and I show you a photo with no sun on this area… hummm, it’s because the sun is about to go down, I am not a liar.

And back again to the West side where I will show you my most recent project.I had these two long planters full of succulents.  But it looked too bare.

With the help of one of my girls, I painted rocks and CDs and placed them in between the plants.

 And now for the big question.  Do any of you know what the name of that purple succulent is?  And is it really a succulent?  Where are my gardening people?

Και τώρα για την μεγαλη ερώτηση. Πως ονομαζεται αυτό το φυτό;  Και είναι πραγματικά παχύφυτο;

And so my tour is finished. I will be working on some small projects out here but mostly I’ll be relaxing with a cold cup of coffee with lots of ice.  I hope you have enjoyed the second part of the balcony tour. What did you like the best?

Και έτσι η ξενάγηση μου έχει τελειώσει. Θα κάνω ορισμένα μικρά έργα εδώ, αλλά κυρίως θα χαλαρώσω με ένα κρύο καφέ με πολύ πάγο. Ελπίζω ότι έχετε απολαύσει το δεύτερο μέρος της ξενάγησης του μπαλκονιού. Τι σας άρεσε το καλύτερο;

You are so lucky to have such a great and big balcony Mary! You even have a spot where to keep it real! ;) Love all the hangout spaces you've created to keep cool and you've added colour and your personality to it!! Joining you with the cold cup of coffee and no, I have no clue if that gorgeous plant is a succulent or not, but it doesn't matter! It looks very pretty!

That's one big balcony with a beautiful view! I think my favorite is the big planters with the painted rocks and cds. Lovely, but i have no idea which plant that is! Enjoy summer!
