Christmas in July - Repurposed Mirror into Vase Base

7/6/2016

You are probably wondering what this post is about.  Or maybe I have heat stroke!  But no, friends, we are going to celebrate Christmas in July.  Every Wednesday throughout July a group of blogger friends and I will be hosting a blog hop. We will be bringing you wonderful ways to make your July Christmas special, and in my case to help with the heat stroke!  Today I present Christmas Decor, my repurposed Mirror into Vase Base.

Now because it is so hot, I needed to do something simple. This is what I found in my stash recently.  It was a mirror once upon a time.

The mirror before, Christmas in July - Repurposed Mirror into Vase Base theboondocksblog.com
I removed the  broken glass and painted the pink plastic white.

And now the fun begins. I use it as a base/stand - call it what you will. Take a look around your house and add anything at all that looks Christmasy.  I have all my Christmas decorations packed away at this time of the year but I was still able to come up with some holiday looks.

You've seen this jar before when I upcycled it with the Snow Spray that Wasn't.

Of course since it is hot outside, I could not resist showing you just how versatile this base is by adding a beachy look to the collection.

Here I've added some dried up pomegranate branches which you have seen here. They add such a Christmasy look.

I do believe this was the easiest repurpose I have ever done. I hope that my Christmas Decor, repurposed mirror into vase base, has put you into the Christmas in July spirit.  You can also check out our monthly Handmade for Christmas series, where we make a gift each month so that by December we will have 12 Christmas gifts and not need to scramble around.

I love how you repurposed the old mirror, Mary. Adding the Chrismasy decor to it is a wonderful use for it. Merry Christmas in July!

I agree Keri it is so neutral that I can put anything on top of it and it will look fine.I think that's why I went with the white. Plus I happened to have it in front of me when I was touching up the metal chairs.

This is an easy and fun repurpose Mary and even though it's really hot here and hard for me to get into the Christmas spirit right now, time will fly and we'll be unpacking Christmas decor before we know it! I really like the beachy look you gave it but agree that there are a lot of fun possiblilities for the special season of the year to come!

That's exactly what I was thinking initially Katrin... too hot, no Christmas talk. But once I started on it, it went very fast. This one is like your 5 minute projects. ;)

I was surprised how many ways you could change the look. I liked the red candle and gold beads the best (for Christmas decor). Simple but very effective. Stay Cool!

Your 'new' base has so many uses and is quite clever!! And what a fun party, too, this is such a great idea. You know I need MONTHS to get anything done and sharing Christmas ideas now just might give me time to finish up a couple IN time for the holiday! I'll be linking up a couple next week, too. Thanks so much to you ladies for hosting!

We are happy to have you linking up Zenda. I know what you mean about getting motivated to do Christmas early. When my friends first suggested the Gifts back in January I though they were off their rockers but it has turned out to be a good idea. I've already made a few gifts for Christmas.

Wow, so many fabulous looks. You're so good at transforming broken old stuff into beautiful treasurers. The beachy look would go well with Millie's beach ornaments, but I really like the pomegranate - I've got some in my garden =D

Seriously Mary. You're repurposing skills are amazing. This turned out so pretty and I love that you and your group are thinking ahead to Christmas. It's so hot here at Dallas that I'm quite willing to work on something like this in the afternoons.

Good thing I love Christmas and I can look on it with fondness since it is warm outside and I don't have to worry about the snow!

I love what you did with the mirror, such a simple DIY with big results. I love all the vignettes that you put together, truly a versatile piece that you can change as the season changes.
