How to Make A Christmas Wreath with Metallic Accents

Sharing is caring!

A happy November to all!  I hope you’ve all taken out your sweaters and winter clothes. The first thing that comes to my mind after I put all the Halloween decor away is how to decorate for Christmas.  You may say it’s too early, but in fact, it is just the right time to start thinking about Christmas.  In our home it is a grand affair, not just a tree, so planning has to be done in advance.  Done by me, that is, because no one else will bother with all this stuff.

So let’s kick the Christmas planning off with a tutorial on How to Make a Christmas Wreath with Metallic Accents.

I usually start to get ideas while walking the store aisles.  Did you know they had Christmas trees up at Costco from late September?

Last week, I went on a trip to Michael’s and came up with my color scheme for this year.  I wanted something that would shine in front of that blue cloudy wall I recently painted.  This year I’ve decided to let the super neutrals and metallics do the talking.

What I Used:

My wreath already had the pine cones glued on from last year’s project.  You can see my pup’s paw on the upper right hand side of the photo. He likes to watch my crafting.

The miniature wood stars were purchased at Michael’s.

And this little beauty.  I found it in the basement.  I guess my dad was holding onto it for reasons unknown. I took it without a clear idea of where I would use it.  It looked a bit tacky in that burnt gold. And it had a chip on the elbow!  But I figured I could try to paint it.

The How To:

I painted the little starts with the two metallic colors.

And then it was time to add some ribbon to the  mix! I bought this at a yard sale years ago and still have lots left over.

The ribbon was wrapped around the wreath.

And the little wooden stars were glued onto the ribbon.

Below is a better look at that brown metallic color.  It looks so pretty next to the pine cones.

The pearl white color also looks great.

I painted the cherub using the pearl white.  It looks almost silver in the photo.

The original gold shows through just a little. It looks so much better now.

I painted the harp with the metallic brown and lightly brushed the curls.  Now tell me, for an up-cycle doesn’t it look great?

For such a cutie it sure weights a lot!  I am actually worried that if I hang it up it might not stay!

Now for the decision.  Do I hang the wreath without the cherub?

Or with the cherub?

Love your wreath Mary. It's so classy and green and silver always looks so stunning together. It must be so much fun having a Dad that saves odd bits that you can repurpose.

Such a cute idea to mix metals in a wreath for Christmas. I'm planning a bit of cool-toned sparkle for my Christmas table this year and I really think metal accents make your holiday decor shine.

I think for now we are going to tone down all that red and green and take a calmer road! I think they would look great on a table.

With, definitely with that adorable cherub! Love the pretty metallic accents and how you added the metallic painted wood stars to the ribbon, Mary. I'm with you on it not being too early to start thinking about decorating for the holidays! Pinned :)

He is a treasure Marie. I have no idea how many years he spend in that basement. But I sure am glad I unearthed him. The more I blog the more I see how important it is to plan ahead. Especially since there are so many great stores out there with fantastic ideas!
