It is that time of the month again when I join my friends and we bring to you our projects from all over the world. I am talking about the International Bloggers Club.
Two months ago we started a new theme that involves using the Anniversary years as our guideline. We featured
projects with paper and projects with cotton. However this month we are going to sidestep and get in the spirit of the season. Yes, we are talking about Christmas! I thought I would go all out and share my Christmas tree for this year. Because for me, it’s all about the sparkle!

Last year I decorated the tree from odds and ends that I found in a box here in New York, our first year back. It was a mostly blue tree. But I didn’t want to repeat it this year because I now have a blue wall and I felt too much blue is, well, too much blue.
This year I wanted to decorate a tree that was all my own. I chose to go with glitter and shine to give the tree that something special – a sparkle! Also the white and bright would really stand out against the blue cloudy wall.
The Glitter
I bought most of the ornaments at the Dollar Tree, like this one below.
I was also lucky enough to stumble into a store that was having a closeout sale. A lot of the ornaments were only 80 cents. And some of them came 2 or 3 in a pack for that price. Like these glitter globes.
I mixed gold, in with silver, and white glitter too. Anything that was shiny and bright caught my attention.

I even added ornaments that are not normally associated with Christmas, like this glitter butterfly.
I think these glitter pine cones are my favorites.
I have to confess that I’ve been planning this tree since the ornaments first appeared in the stores a month or so ago. I wanted to do it in an organized way, collecting the ornaments over the course of these last two months.
The White Ornaments
I even got carried away and added this white fluffy ornament that had a bit of shine to it. The blue donut in the background is a sentimental piece that was gifted to my daughter last year. It was the only ornament with color on the tree. And it has sparkle!
This wood bone is for the newest member of the family. Should I write his name on it?
The Jewels
These were large ornaments bought for a steal.
I added a ribbon, from the clearance section at Michael’s, that also has plenty of glitter on it to give the whole tree even more sparkle.
From Top to Bottom
The star was bought for $1 at a yard sales. I saw it at a department store for $10. Never underestimate what you can find at those yard sales.
There were some ornaments that I reused from last year’s tree, such as the silver balls tied together with twine in triple. And I also reused the crystals which were re-purposed from an old chandelier.
Every year we add the train to the bottom of the tree. This year I placed a white sheet as a skirt. I wanted something simple to not detract from the dazzling ornaments.
And one final look at the tree all lit up at night. It really stands out at night.
But it also looks pretty good in the daylight especially with the blue wall in the background. I guess doing this all these years has taught me that it is never as simple as just picking a bunch of colors and decorating. I have become so obsessive I now need to coordinate the tree with the rest of the room.
Where are those simple days when I just decorated with beloved family ornaments?
Maybe for next year’s tree I’ll let my hair down and do all white and red! Now that will really mess with my blue wall! But look at me, I am really getting ahead of myself.
Do you become obsessive like I do and worry about how to decorate your tree, and what colors should go on it before you start decorating? I hope not. Life is too short to stress about these things. I actually enjoyed the whole process. After all it is all about the sparkle!

That is my kind of Christmas tree, sparkly! What is Christmas without sparkle? Love all the ornaments you chose, they combine so well with each other. The fluffy one would be one of my favorites, white as snow, cozy as the homes and sparkly as the season. I think Tatou deserves his name on his own ornament, he's part of the family.

It’s a beautiful tree Mary! I love glittery ornaments and have my fair share. They really make a tree pop and look so glam :). (Had a lot of difficulty commenting again even from my phone. Hope this works).
