Many of you may be seeing a lot of Christmas posts out there, but being that I am a confirmed Autumn Lover I’m not ready to let go of fall just yet. During one of my recent walks around the neighborhood I picked up these pretty leaves you see below.
I just couldn’t see not bringing them home to hold onto their warm colors. And hold onto them I did with this how to easily add fall in your home project!
We have a lot of stuff in our new house because it’s really an old house. My older kids have been here for years and it was once my home before we moved to Greece. So naturally we have plenty of stuff. I didn’t just move into a new to us home. One of my recent finds when we got here, were some simple black frames. I decided I’d work with these for this super simple project.
What I Used:
- Pretty fall leaves picked up from nature
- A few black picture frames
- paper that is used for packing or as it is also called newsprint
The How To:
I spread the paper along the back of the frames. And then placed the leaves in front. Then slid the whole thing inside the frames. You can see that the paper is wrinkled. This suits me just fine because I love that imperfect look which gives the project loads of texture.
It does not get any easier!
You’ll have to excuse the glare but this is how you know that there is actual glass there. I am just keeping it real. It wouldn’t work if I was to take the glass off.
I honestly don’t know how long they will last … after all winter is coming! And the frames will be changed out for Christmas decor so it is not a problem.
I love the contrast between the black and white and that intense color of the leaves. Doesn’t it look like art?

And when they are grouped together they look even better. Don’t you think so?
I told you it was easy! They will look great in my home as we celebrate Thanksgiving together. I hope you are all getting ready for Turkey day. If you need anything I have added links above to help you buy that big roasting pan..
May we hold onto Autumn for as long as it lasts and savor ever moment with this how to easily add fall to your home project.
Are you cooking a turkey this year? Pumpkin pie? I am going all out!!

Years ago Target sold something just like this and I bought it for my home. Eventually it broke but I never thought to do this myself. I love leaves in the fall so I really should scoop some up out of my yard and make this.

This is so lovely. I love the colors of fall. I am not ready to let go either. I don't have the beautiful fall leaves but this can be done with silk ones so I can get the same look. Thanks for sharing.

Debra you are absolutely right, silk flowers and leaves would be perfect and of course last much longer.
