And for spring to roll in, I’m showing you how to make a green wreath for spring. I have a whole collection of them here on the blog. Of course I was not always a wreath maker. You can see my first attempt here. It was not bad, but I think I’ve managed to improve a bit.
This can serve as a foundation for the rest of your wreath. I have used it before in the schitzophrenic wreath which shows a bit of this neutral underneath.
In this case, I really did not need this neutral base since I covered the whole shape with other fabric, as you’ll see below.
To me spring means the green grass, the green leaves on the trees. By the time summer rolls around here in Greece the grass has dried out and looks parched from all the heat. All I can think about it taking a dive in the water, hence the color blue is summer!
But back to spring, Yes! Green is the color of spring. Oh and it also happens to be my favorite color. Betcha didn’t know that! My green was not exactly the Greenery color, but it was close enough for my purposes.
I hope you have a chance to try out this simple way to make a wreath. Do you also incorporate real plants and flowers in your decor?

Dear Mary,
absolutely adorable! I love your spring wreath. It’s full of lovable details. Great!
Have a nice day,
Marjan
Thank you Marjan. I love it too, everytime I walk by it makes me smile with all that yellow.
Your spring wreath looks great, Mary. I love that you used real flowers. The colors all go so well together! Pinning and sharing. I’m looking forward to seeing all of the spring projects at the party.
I too am really enjoying this link party Beverly, and thank you for co-hosting. I have so many flowers all around me I can’t help but use them.
How pretty! I especially like your idea of adding rosemary! It’s my favorite option for just about any arrangement! -Marci @ Stone Cottage Adventures
Marci, I really love the rosemary too. It is so pretty and delicate.
Mary, your wreaths are always so much fun and this one is another lovely addition to your collection of wreaths!! It really screams spring all the way and I love the natural flowers on it!!
Yes Katrin I too think the yellow screams spring. And that sharp green is not a wallflower either. 😉
I always love your upcycle/recycle wreaths, Mary! This one really shouts, “It’s Spring” with its’ natural floral elements! Well done!
Just the look I was going for. I think after this harsh winter we need to wake up and smell the flowers Gail.
Well just look at that cute wreath! Girl…you are the crafting queen! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Cindy it’s a super easy way to create a wreath and using natural flowers is eco-friendly and frugal!
Your pretty wreath definitely heralds in Spring nicely Mary! So cheerful!!

We had a pretty harsh winter here Doreen so now we needed color to wake us up from our hibernation.
How pretty Mary! I love how you bring together recycled materials to make your wreaths. Pretty spring colors from the fabric, with some burlap and the pop of yellow from the flowers. Lovely.
Linda if this is not an enviromentally friendly wreath than I don’t know what is. I spent zero on this. And I love using real flowers.
Always an original idea Mary!
Creatively unique wreath. To answer your question, I like the idea of real flowers, especially in a Spring wreath. Might make one when spring reaches us (somewhere at the end of…May).
Dione we had snow here if you can believe it but now we are being overrun by flowers! Haha. It was only fitting that I use them. Stay safe and warm, I keep up with your area and I know you have turned winter and spring topsy turvy!
Mary, your wreaths are always so lovely! I love the green, such a bright color. The real flowers are such a great touch.
I was trying to shock myself out of the winter blahs with a burst of color Keri! I guess I did it!
Mary! Very pretty wreath! Love the use of real flowers and your fabric choices as well! Pinned 🙂
Thank you Laurie, the flowers are in full bloom here. I figured I’d make use of them!
I love the colors you used in the wreath Mary. All the blues and greens with a hint of purple. It just perfect for Spring and the rosemary twigs must make it smell lovely too.
Michelle whenever thehubs brings flowers home from the farm I alwasy get ideas for wreaths in my head. The flowers are just too pretty to be thrown out. This way they dry on the wreath and live on for a while.
I always enjoy your live flower wreaths, Mary – so pretty! The fabric and ribbon you used is just lovely. Pinning. I’m so jealous Spring is already in the air there. We got another dump of snow 🙁
Marie by the time spring arrives there we will be in the throes of a heat wave.
Very pretty spring wreath, Mary! I like that it is will fit behind a glass storm door as it is not too thick
Our weather has been warm but we may still have snow here–actually we need it as it has been very very dry
Best, Pat.
Pat you are absolutely right about that. It has just enough form from the flowers alone but not too much bulk.
Pretty wreath & LOVE the mix of fabrics you chose! Love how easy it is, too, to make that wreath form! So you just use a couple of bowls to measure that out? What could be easier? I always think I have to have a special wreath form, but this way you probably use less fabric…less to wrap around, right? I’m going to have to get me some of that burlap ribbon everybody uses. Very pretty look Mary! Maybe I can work up something for the blog hop. Pinned.
You know me Florence always being thrifty. I originally did this because I wanted to use up some cardboard I had. And of course then I had to use up the strips of fabric. Yes it does take of less fabric because it is flat. But once you add the flowers you do have a bit of a shape so it is not totally flat. but not too bulky either.
I love how the basic template can be reused to create so many different looks. The Spring wreath has such lovely color and texture.
If there’s one thing I am Debra it;s practical. I cannot see storing lots of different wreaths all year long only to have them out for a season. This way I use the one for the whole year.
Spring is not my season as my allergies start kicking me off! But with a beautiful wreath like yours I may try to view things differently!
Ohh sorry to hear that. Just stay away from this one cause it is full of pollen.
Hi Mary, your wreath would look good on any front door. I do agree that green is the colour of spring here, everything on the island is looking fresh and green, with lovely splashes of colour from the flowers.
xx
I love the spring time. In the summer the grass is all dried out and not pretty like in the spring. Spring is special plus it;s not too hot!
Mary you re create that wreath each season! The layers in this one are so interesting and it looks like the lavender is real so the wreath is fragrant as well? Love the final product
Yes Debbie I use the same cardboard because I don’t want to have to store too much stuff. The flowers are all real. And after a few days when it dries out it looks just as lovely!
This is lovely Mary! Thanks for sharing. xx
Nothing beats nature Kate!
What a fun link party! Thanks for hosting Mary!
Melissa thank you for linking up with us.
This is all so pretty Mary, I love it. I’m wondering how long it lasts with the fresh flowers? Would you just pull out anything that goes over and poke a new sprig in? Would it last a week do you think? longer??
Julie the nice thing about these types of wreaths is that the flowers dry out on the wreath and stay like that. I have some that I’ve kept up for a few months. I think they look equally beautiful when they are dried out.
Think I could make this wreath. Found you on Bloggers Lifestyle Link Party
Thanks Candy, I’m all about simple ideas!
Wow that is cute,, its lovely. I love how you used what you already had. I love how its more flat on the other side.. this would fit perfect on my door for that reason. I loved you tutoril and I will pin it. I also followed you in Pinterest. Glad to find your blog at the Bloggers Pit Stop today. I am going to make a wreath this week for Spring!
I always try to use what I have on hand Susan and am so happy you found this useful. Hope you can share your wreath with us when you make it.
