Here is a quick repurpose I whipped up, after procrastinating for months. I had this old bread box with the splatter paint effect – very 1980’s.  I was not using it for bread any more and it was just taking up space.  I was very  indecisive about what to do with it, so I asked some friends to help me out.  They responded with a wealth of ideas and inspiration. I finally decided to transform this sorry box into storage for my printer machine paper.  I have a new tenant for the bread box.

I painted it with white chalk paint.  One coat was enough and I did not mind the streaks as it added to the effect I was after.

Then using a polka dot stencil I brushed on this pattern of dots with  beige paint.

Here is the side view, you can see the brush strokes, which gives it that weathered look.  I finished it off with some wax.

I placed a basket on top and added a bunch of jars with all sorts of very necessary stuff.

The inside of the former bread box holds all of my printer paper.

A quick and easy re-purpose, if there ever was one.  And it looks so glamorous now.  What do you think, was it a good choice, this new tenant for the bread box?

Μια γρήγορη και εύκολη ανανέωση!. Και φαίνεται τόσο λαμπερό τώρα. Τι νομίζετε, ήταν μια καλή επιλογή;

    Great idea Mary! Perfect for storing your printer paper, and pretty the way you painted it with the dots! Adding the basket full of jars on top is a very clever way to keep all your necessities at hand .

      This was a good idea too because it keep the papers dust free. Because everything else is not dust free. We get a lot of dust here in the summer because we have the windows opened constantly.
