I walk into my youngest’s room the other day and after I remove a ton of containers, papers, and lots of other miscellaneous things that she “can’t live without”, this is what I found under the desk. It turns out the laminate on the desk had started to peel away.
Μπαίνω στης μικρής το δωμάτιο την άλλη μέρα και αφού αφαιρώ έναν τόνο δοχεία, χαρτιά, και πολλά διάφορα πράγματα που αυτή «δεν μπορεί να ζήσει χωρίς”, αυτό βρίσκω κάτω από το γραφείο. Είναι το φύλλο πλαστικού πάνω στο γραφείο είχε αρχίσει να ξεφλουδίζει.
Don’t mind the dust, but you can see that the laminate was only left towards the back, and try as I might I could not get rid of it all. Δεν μας πειράζει η σκόνη, αλλά μπορείτε να δείτε ότι η στρώση απομένει μόνο προς τα πίσω, και όσο κι αν προσπάθησα, δεν μπόρεσα να το βγάλω.
Now one thing you need to know about this room is that it is full of British flags, in one form or another.
Τώρα ένα πράγμα που πρέπει να ξέρετε για αυτό το δωμάτιο είναι ότι είναι γεμάτο από βρετανικές σημαίες, με τον ένα ή τον άλλο τρόπο.

My youngest is a serious Anglophile. She made this one herself.
Η κόρη μου είναι μια φανατική αγγλόφιλος. Αυτό το έκανε η ίδια.
So after all these pictures I have just shown you, what do you think I am going to do with that desk?? Why, of course. A British flag. (Pillow repurposed from old t-shirt.)
Έτσι, μετά από όλες αυτές τις εικόνες που μόλις σας έδειξα, τι νομίζετε ότι εγώ πρόκειται να κάνω με το εν λόγω γραφείο; Μα, φυσικά. Μια βρετανική σημαία. (Μαξιλάρι αναδιαμορφωμένο από παλιό μπλουζάκι.)
I would need her help here, since she is such an expert at painting the flag. She taped off the design, like this:
Θα πρέπει να με βοηθήσει εδώ, αφού είναι ειδική στην ζωγραφική της σημαίας. Έχει κάνει το σχέδιο:
And then using 2 coats of acrylic paint she created this:
Και στη συνέχεια, χρησιμοποιώντας 2 στρώσεις ακρυλικό χρώμα και δημιούργησε αυτό:
Let’s remove the masking tape.
Ας αφαιρέσουμε την κολλητική ταινία.
It’s not perfect, but it’s not bad … And the stripes are supposed to be this way – she should know, she is always staring at that flag! And to seal all this imperfection I used 3 coats of varnish.
Δεν είναι τέλειο, αλλά δεν είναι κακό … Και οι λωρίδες πρέπει να είναι έτσι - αυτή ξέρει, αφού πάντα κοιτάζει τη σημαία όλη μέρα! Και για να σφραγίσω όλη αυτή την ατέλεια χρησιμοποίησα 3 στρώσεις βερνίκι.

Because there was so much stuff that needed to go back on the desk, I took a few shoe boxes and decorated them with washi tape (the flag of course). This way all of her things are together and if she needs to remove them it is much more manageable.
Επειδή υπήρχαν τόσα πολλά πράγματα που έπρεπε να πάνε πίσω στο γραφείο, πήρα μερικά κουτιά παπουτσιών και τα διακόσμησα με ταινία (φυσικά με τη σημαία). Με αυτό τον τρόπο όλα τα πράγματα της είναι μαζί και αν χρειαστεί να τα βγάλουμε, είναι πολύ πιο εύχρηστο.
That dour looking fellow scowling at us on the upper right hand side is Voltaire – he is not British!
Αυτός ο σκυθρωπός κύριος που μας αγριοκοιτάζει στην πάνω δεξιά πλευρά είναι ο Βολταίρος – δεν είναι Βρετανός!
The drawing on the right is of the Beatles – yes, they are British!

This room would not have been complete without the British flag on that horrible desk. A good upcycle and a happy teen. What else can a mom ask for?
Αυτό το δωμάτιο δεν θα ήταν πλήρης χωρίς τη βρετανική σημαία σε εκείνο το φρικτό γραφείο. Μια καλή ανανέωση και μια ευτυχισμένη έφηβη. Τι άλλο μπορεί να ζητήσει μια μητέρα;

Lol. My daughter has a friend at her Aussie school that’s obsessed with Portugal. Knows everything about it and can’t wait to move there when she’s older! But then there was a boy at her primary school that was obsessed with tractors. Each to their own! Now if mine was just obsessed with homework, well we can wish!

LOVE IT! I can relate to the Anglophile craze, in college I went to three malls looking for one British flag wallet. Took all afternoon but I found one! I would have LOVED to have this desk in my room. You're such an awesome mom.
