Happy New Year everyone!  I hope you have all had a wonderful time during the holidays. I really enjoyed myself and relaxed a bit.  I’m now ready to share with you my most popular DIY posts for 2018.  Let me know which were your favorites.

10 – How to Makeover a Mid-Century Modern China Cabinet

This was a beautiful piece that was in my family since the 1970’s.  It would have been a shame to get rid of it since it had quite a few problems.  But I am a firm believer in the power of paint.  And that is exactly what saved the day for me.

Now the sides of the cabinet are all white creating a softer look and hiding all the damage.  I also decoupaged the glass doors to hide my mess.

9 – A Heart Shaped Box for Valentine’s Day Crafting

This was a last minute project that really surprised me.  I had a heart shaped box which baffled me for the longest time.  It all came together when it was filled to the brim with flowers  and my heart was full too!

8 – How to Give a New Life to Old Lamps

This makeover turned out to be much simpler than I had originally thought.  My initial trepidation was because the paint went on wet and felt sticky after an hour.  But by the next day it had dried hard as nails.  Now I swear by this stuff, and use it all the time.

7 – How to Quickly Add Spring Art to Your Home

This was another last minute idea.  I think from now on I should not plan things out at all!  I had gotten the frame and just added a piece of wrapping paper!  Voila!

6 – How to Make an Easy Frame Jewelry Organizer

Another easy project that required very little work on my part.  I should totally give up all those hard laborious projects! Aside from the painting, this took all of five minutes.

5 – How to Get Two Unique Makeovers from One Chair

One chair, two ways to make it over.  Easy peasy!  Which do you like better?

4 – How to Make an Easy Cover for a Bedroom Clothes Rack

Now I have to be honest here, this was not something I expected to be popular at all. It was put together literally days before we moved from Greece to the States.  I needed to have the clothes covered and dust free. I would even go so far as to call this the cheapskates’ version of a clothes rack cover.   But I guess we all need practical solutions to the problem of dust covering our clothes.

3 – Ten Projects for a Special Valentine’s Day

This  roundup of Valentine’s Day Projects was my first collaboration with the ladies from the “Ten on the Tenth” group.  Obviously, they are all very talented and I reaped the benefits of their friendship and did very well with this first post, along with all the others that came after.

This is also the second Valentine’s Day project on the most popular list.  Humm, I wonder what that means?

2- How to Make Pretty Pleated Curtains with Drop Cloth

The curtains were made using drop cloth,  but what sets them apart is the method I used to create the pleats.  It is a super easy way to get a tailored look without the work.

Honorable Mentions

Why are these honorable mentions?  They were not created in 2018 but they still continue to generate lots of views for me.  I guess they must be worth mentioning.
The wire dish rack was repurposed into an organizer and still looks fresh today, after almost four years.

This one was from 2016! I repurposed tin cans into a pretty vase and I was so happy to not have to throw those cans away!

1- How to Repurpose Household Items as Planters

And the most popular for last year was my take on using household items as planters.  I guess we must have lots of gardeners out there.  I personally have a notorious brown thumb which is slowly sliding to the black, but I still like tolook at pretty flowers.

And these have been my most popular DIY posts for this past year. I have to admit there were some surprises in the bunch, especially that clothing rack cover.  But you never know what will show up in these lists.  I will however, take away that you all seem to like the simpler projects the best!

Happy New Year to you too Mary. It’s always so much fun seeing the top projects of a previous year and a little surprising too. I think lots of people are looking for simple solutions to everyday problems. The drop cloth pleated curtains was definitely one of my favs from last. It was such a brilliant idea and it looks so classy and chic.

It never fails to surprise me this list. Sometimes I know where it is going and sometimes I am thrown for a loop. But simple is definitely the way to go.

I have that wrapping paper and I love it! And I don’t think I saw the dish rack organizer. I might have to try that one — it’s really terrific! I love all of these, Mary!

I had forgotten how pretty the Valentine’s Day project is. The drop cloth drapes may be my favorite because I love using drop cloth. Other posts I always enjoy are the photo essays of Greece and New York. I am looking forward to see what you do in 2019. Happy New Year!

I love seeing all the popular posts from the year. I think I will do that too. The best is you are a DIY’er and you have before and after photos. Happy crafting, and DIY’ing, Kippi

I LOVE that Valentine’s box full of flowers, Mary! I may have to make one of those for myself this year. I also love the jewelry organizer. I never saw that post (I think that was while I was taking a bit of a break back in the spring), so it’s totally ironic that I made a similar jewelry organizer over the summer. 🙂 So many great projects this past year!

All beautiful transformations Mary! You are always coming up with something clever whether it’s saving something from the trash by turning it into pretty decor, or an storage/organizer, or even a clever way to hide something from view.
My favorite is the repurposed can, I love repurposing cans and I loved this one the moment I seen it!
