The keys were the last detail to be added to the tree.

I love your roasted Christmas tree Mary – the pot is awesome! What a great find in your basement. I like how you added the chalkboard bit to write something on it! The little packages are adorable and I think it’s ok to gush over your own creations, I do it all the time…lol. And the keys, I love the keys. Such a unique idea!
Thank you Katrin. This is the one I had been agonizing over for weeks. I’m so happy with it. And it is fairly out of my confort range, but that’s ok!
I love your roasted Christmas tree, Mary!! The old pot is a great idea and gives a vintage look, as well as the keys. And the gifts are an extra addition, glad to have been able to inspire you making some, thanks for the mention.
Lots of hugs
Yes, Pili, when I saw those little shapes in your blog I fell in love iwth them. They were so unusual and cute. and I thought they would make pretty little candy cases.
Good Thursday morning Mary! How is Greece today?
How cool is it that you have a basement that keeps giving up all these fantastic treasures!? Are these treasures from previous owners?
Your ‘roasted’ Christmas tree is perfection, even if you ‘revel’ in imperfections (which is a phrase I just love!)
Christmas is clearly in full swing in the Kalpos home. Enjoy!
They are things that I have inherited from grandparents and other things that just accumulated. I’m not even sure how some of them ended up there. I’m just thankful that my point of view changed and I now see them as hidden treasures. Yes, I do have an affinity for the broken and imperfect. Enjoy your movies tonight!
I was amazed what you did with the TP rolls. I was looking at the little packages, wondering what they were, before you explained it. You get extra points for creativity and being “green”. The pot really works and I like the NOEL.. its perfect.
What a fun basement you have.
Krista, I like the green points. And how about all of that stuff that I drag up from the basement. It would have gone unused otherwise. I’m very happy with my finds now that I can see outside the box. I’m so happy you stopped by!
Mary, I love your roasted Christmas tree!! Those little candy shaped creations you all made are adorable and worth the gushing!! Those keys are fantastic! I love that you used them as ornaments!! All the details look lovely!! Nice job…I can’t wait to see the big tree details! 🙂
Keri thanks for your sweet words. Now you see why I was fretting all this time. The keys were spotted while I was leaving the basement with the pot…lucky me that my eye caught them. 🙂
Ha, ha, your daughter is funny! But I love how you always think outside of the box. Your creations are that much more special. The keys are a wonderful idea, they add a touch of whimsical. Have a great weekend, Mary!
Thank you Jas. I am trying to use up all that stuff in the basement so up it comes I let it simmer for a while and then the idea hits. That’s she way my inspiration works. Enjoy your birthday weekend!
well I am not sure how a roasted Christmas Tree tastes but it sure looks beautiful! Love the keys and the little boxes. This roasted tree would be so fun to have on the table or sideboard during a family get together. Thanks for sharing the fun with us!
Thank you ladies! Too bad there’s no candy inside the little tp rolls…. hummm, maybe I can sneak some in there and surprise the girls. Thanks for iving me the idea. Happy holidays!
Mary! Those keys are such an amazing thing to have found in your basement. I want to have a bottomless pit basement! So fun! Tree looks great 🙂
Thanks Heather. I never know what I’ll find whenever I go down there. And what is it with all of these trees? Now I have to finish the big one, lucky for me I’ve got plenty of keys. 🙂
Hi Mary,
Oh I love your cute roasted tree! Lol! How creative of you all. The presents are cute too.
I hope you have a nice weekend.
Julie
Thank you so much Julie. We all pitch in to make a whole craft in this house, Have a happy holiday!
The “Roasted Tree” is wonderful. Love everything about it but especially the little packages and keys. Like you and i say, white freshens up everything.
Yes Debra we have our soft spot for the white. It makes all the difference. And youknow I added those keys at the last minute. Have a great weekend.
Mary, I love the way you set up the tree and the keys. Team work made that turn out beautifully.
Thank you Stacey.I’m lucky to have helpers. They’re teens and they can change as the wind blows. Thanks for your kind words.
What a great use for that tin full of keys in the attic (no basement built here 400 years ago) that I no longer know which lock they fit! Very inspiring post, thanks , Mary!
I have no idea where those keys came from either. Certainly we never had so many doors. No matter, as long as I was lucky to find them that is all that matters to me. Although now I am wondering…. I do believe the keys outlasted the doors.
Hi Mary, what a wonderful idea and it didn’t cost anything just a trip to the basement, which I would like to see. I’m sure you have many treasures down there. Merry Christmas! xx Jo
Thank you Jo. I also like to look back and try to salvage whatever I can instead of throwing our history out. Thanks for visiting, I really enjoy your blog. Merry Christmas. xoxo
Such a sweet story and your creativity is off the charts on this one:) …Love the little pill boxes and I am quite envious of your basement with it’s never ending supply of items to create with! Merry Christmas my friend!!
Thank you Wendi. Now if I manage to empty that basement I’ll be able to downsize like you and not have so much stuff. Enjoy your weekend.
Yummy! The tp rolls gift boxes look great in the pot!
I was actually thinking of putting some candy in there to surprise the kids. They’re not so small but still kids at heart!
Love the key idea and all the red pops!
Thanks Darrielle. I was going for a vintage look, hope I achieved it, but with a twist.
I love this! It is so cute and rustic. Would totally fit with our decorations. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Thank you Catherine. It does have a vintagy look to it and those keys are sort of distressed so yes! Thanks for stopping by.
I adore your roasted tree! It’s a very clever base, and the keys as ornaments are fabulous! Beautiful!
Thank you Amy. I wanted to try something out of my comfort zone and this was it…Thanks for your sweet comment.
How clever your “roasted” tree is, Mary ~ love the presents tucked inside the pan too. Thank you for sharing @Vintage Charm!
This was my way of repurposing all those posts that are neglected in my basement. I hope I did right by them!
I love the little presents inside the base. Very clever. I also like that you thought about putting candy in there. That would have been so sweet, too. It really doesn’t matter how old your kids are for this one ! 🙂
You’re right Ilka, they’re not too old and neither am I. I’m definitey going to add some candy in there. 🙂
Hi Mary,
So pretty, what a creative idea to use the roasting pot, I love it! And I love the Noel written on the side too, and it looks just perfect to me!
Love the keys too!
Repurposing something old and making it new again is so much nicer!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Hugs, Kimberley
I absolutely agree with you Kimberly. That old pot was just pining away in the basement, now it feels used and purposeful!! Have a great Sunday Hugs back!!
Oh my goodness, how cute is this? I love the creativity and addition of things you would never think of! And the chalkboard paint on the pot is the perfect touch!
Celeste thanks. I tried to go out of my comfort zone on this one and surprise myself. I guess by your reaction I did a good job!
Such a lovely idea! I love the painted keys! Thanks for sharing.
I was so delighted with my key find in the basment. I think the keys make all the difference.
you always do beautiful understated crafts – especially your seasonal ones Mary and this one is no exception – I especially loved the keys! Thanks for linking up with our #OverTheMoon linky 🙂 ~ Leanne
Thank you Leanne. I was lucky to find small and large keys so I used the smaller ones here and saved the larger ones for the bigger tree.
What a fun tree. I love the painted keys. That’s such a unique idea for ornaments. You always find great ways to repurpose your basement stash, Mary! Thanks for sharing at Snickerdoodle. I’ll be including your roasted tree in my Snickerdoodle Special Feature post, Home for the Holidays,on Wednesday.
Beverly I am so honored for the feature. Thank you so much.
What a great idea Mary – I love the little presents in a decorated pot idea for a mini tree. I also love the idea of hanging skeleton keys from a tree too. Very nice!
Lucky for me that basement is a treasure trove Marie! I think I have a few more pots down there.

This is too cute especially the keys! Thank you for joining the 12 days of Christmas blogger tour Link Party! Merry Christmas!
Thanks so much Vel! I was lucky to find all those keys. Let’s hope I won’t have to unlock anything now because I’ll never know which key is which. Merry Christmas.
Your tree is so cute! I love the key ornaments and you’re Noel pot! So creative! Thanks for sharing at the Submarine Sunday Link Party!!
T’onna thank you for your sweet words. I was dreaming about this one for a month before finally putting it together. Isn’t it funny how we obsess over our projects!
What a creative idea, especially they keys. They look really good on the tree. I love the story of how your daughter named the little tree. What a lovely anecdote.
Sally @ Life Loving
Thanks so much Sally, I think I like this one even better than the big tree. I love those tiny keys. As for my girl, it helps to have her around for when I’m lacking inspiration. Happy holidays and a bright 2016!
You once again amaze me. This little roasted tree turned out so adorable. I really like the “gifts” at the bottom of the tree, I would never guessed that they were made with toilet paper rolls! So cute. And I am a sucker for old keys, I love them. Not sure why, but I always have, what a cool idea to hang them on the tree!!! What else is hiding in that bottomless basement of yours? LOL
Nikki, you know when you have some special posts, well this one was the highlight for December for me. This little baby was on my mind a full month before I posted it. It’s like giving birth! lol. THe basement is well stocked…. more to come next year! 😉
This looks so delightful! It makes me want Christmas all over again! I cannot believe it is all over for another year…. Thanks for linking to #frifree4all
I really enjoyed myself this year. It was so much fun to push myself and to create different things. I hope you had a wonderful holiday and looking forward to linking up with you in the new year!
Your Christmas tree is great Mary! I love the boxes under it and the keys you painted. So creative and original:). Pinning! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your family and a happy new year, Tara
Tara, I hope you had a great Christmas as well. Did you get any snow? I can just imagine how lovely it is there in your farmhouse. Looking forward to a year full of projects and inspiration.
Love this! It looks awesome! Thanks so much for linking up with The Alder Collective! Hope you’ll join us again next week. Have an awesome night!
Thanks Cristi. I still have it up maybe I’ll keep it around a while longer since Christmas is just finishing for us now. Have a great day!
What a great little Christmas tree project! I really like what you have done with the keys. This looks like something fun we can create with our daughter for next Christmas, she was so excited to decorate the “Big Tree” (as she calls it) and this little tree can be her Little Tree. Thanks for sharing.
This one is a “Little” gem! Thanks Laurie!
Mary, Loved this project the first time I saw it! So very creative!! So glad you shared it with us at the Christmas In July Hop!
Gorgeous, I love it!
Great and creative ideas!
There is nothing like things hand down, old things, and things we have around and turn them into something beautiful like you have done here. I love your decorative tree.
That has to be hands down the most adorable story / tradition I have heard in a long time ! Thanks so much for sharing it. Your roasted tree is just adorable.
LOL, now I’ve seen it all – a roasted Christmas tree, that’s so cool. Love the idea of adding keys as ornaments, that’s really unique and they look lovely too.
So special! what a cute name! ARe the presents empty?
2ut
I think your tree is beautiful and I would love to have a peek in your treasure trove basement.
I love this idea Mary and the title fits is perfectly. I especially love the keys you used for ornaments. You never cease to amaze me! xo
Oh my word that is so clever! I love the idea of using the key. What a great way to add classic style to any tree. Well done! #twinklytuesday
Thanks Tracy it is one of my all time favorite projects.
I didn’t see how the toilet paper rolls came in, but love the little tree, the tree base, and how you decorated that pot stand. Imperfection is perfectly fine. Love the keys on the tree too.
Florence those little ribbon wrapped cardboard things in the roasting pot are the paper rolls from the toilet paper. 😉
Your basement must be something else, a proper Aladdin’s cave. The tree is lovely, I especially like the keys.
Thanks Julie! This was one of my old time favorite trees!
Mary, I think the roasting pot is ingenious. The whole tree has turned out very charming and original.
Kathleen
