Hello to everyone!  Summer can be so much fun or so dreadful for me.  Because I live in a Mediterranean country it can get very hot in the summertime – easily in the 100 degrees.  When this happens I generally wilt.  But this year something wonderful (for me) has happened.  We have been hitting the mid 80’s and not much else.  So because it is comfortable for me I am working hard and being creative with my junk. Here is a simple repurpose which is all too familiar to many of you. This is my version of an under the bed drawer storage.

After washing this dusty, dirty drawer, the next step was to wax it up a bit.As I have previously mentioned I made my own furniture wax a few days ago and now I am using it on almost everything. This dried out wood was in desperate need of some love.

You can see what a difference it makes by looking at this picture.  On the left hand side there is no wax and it is a sorry state.  The right hand side is rich and shiny.

And because I am the “Twine Lady” I added the twine in the front instead of a handle or knob.

For the inside I just lined it with contact paper.

On the bottom I added strips of furniture protection felt.  Just cut them to the right side and they stick on. This made the bottom easy to slide around on my tile floor. I chose not to add wheels as this would have given too much height to the piece and I would not have been able to fit it under my bed.

I am using this drawer to store my rag rugs, right under the bed.

I just pull on the twine and it slides right out.  Cannot get easier than that.

That was an easy solution for  under the bed storage.  And the best part I put it together in half an hour with no money spent!  I hope you enjoy this easy re-purpose of an under the bed drawer storage.  Maybe you too should look around the house for some lonely drawers.

This is such a great idea for under the bed storage, especially how you used felt instead of wheels. I’ve been trying to figure out some storage for my girls’ bed, but the wheels always make it too tall. I’m going to try this.
Oh, and your basement sounds like a fun treasure trove. I’d love to see it. 🙂

Rebecca I was having the same problem, because the wheels gave it too much height. Another thing that can be used is those little pads that we add on the bottom of furniture legs.

I sure could use one of these for my socks. I’ve seen them with wheels, but I know that wouldn’t fit under our bed. But the furniture protection pads would be perfect, and it wouldn’t scratch the floor. Now the only problem I would have is my furbabies thinking that I made it for them. LOL

Haha, yes they probably would think it was for them and then jump in and play with the socks. What a fun idea Linda.
