Mary, you always amaze me with your upcycles. It looks beautiful!
Jas, it is very sturdy and that’s what I was looking for really. Baskets would not hold the wood, and I didn’t want to put metal containers there.
it looks great Mary – quite different to what I expected when I read that you were using a wash tub (I was thinking of those metal ones!)
Leanne I found this at the farm under a pile of dirt. It was big and sturdy and those were the requirements. Now that it’s all cleaned up and pretty I can keep it at home and store the wood. Wood is much warmer than metal… but you never know.
What a beautiful piece of furniture. You did the very best thing with this and it looks so much better after your loving care. Thanks for sharing with us at the Over the Moon Link Party.
Thank you Sandy. It’s always a pleasure to visit new blogers at parties. And I’m so glad I discovered yours.
Agreed! It looks beautiful and is perfect for logs Mary! The natural stain brings out the imperfections of the wood, which I really like!
I actually chanced upon the stain. I’m really happy with the way it turned out and now it sits next to my fireplace which I use a lot in the winter. It’s not cold but there is a lot of humidity in the air that cuts to the bones.
What a fabulous find and it cleaned up nicely. The dents just make it all the more interesting. I think you found the perfect use for it too.

Laurie this really was a trash to treasure situation. The amount of mud on it was unbelievable.
Wow, that is something else Mary. It’s beautiful and looks so old. Gosh you’re a talented lady. π
This is definitely old Lindsay, I just had to bring out the beauty in it.
This is beautiful. It is amazing how you can turn a found object into such a useful and beautiful item.
Thanks Heather, you would not have recognized it with all of that mud that was on it before.
Hello Mary,
this is a wonderful tub!
I want it!
many greetings
Uwe
It’s part of the family now Uwe. Thanks for stopping by
This is such a treasure! Your basement is a treasure trove! I love the old rustic texture of the wood, it’s gorgeous once you stained it! I’m glad you found a use for it, it’s too cool not to be used!!!
I agree, when I found it it was covered in mud. There was no way I could have seen the beautiful waves of the wood underneath. Now it proudly sits next to my fireplace.
Mary, You are so creative and talented. The old wash tub is beautiful. I expect you find many ways to showcase it. Great recycle.
Debra because it’s so rugged and sturdy, I’m using it to store the wood for the fireplace for now.
Mary, you are the thrifty upcycle queen! Looks fabulous! Thank you for sharing @Vintage Charm!
Thanks Cecilia. I can’t bear to throw anything out without at least first trying to salvage it. Thanks for your visit.

Yes it does Michelle. I love this old thing, so very sturdy!! ANd it has to be at least 50 years old.
I love your old wash tub, how many stories it could tell… It’s great you found a way to upcycle it and made it shine.
Thanks for sharing with us at Two Uses Tuesday!

Pili, I had to search under a pile of mud to save this por thing. It’s a miracle it d haden’t disintergrated.
Wonderful farmhouse piece Mary. It is amazing that it is in such fine condition after all these years. I am so happy that you found it, restored it and recycled it to a use that is making you happy.

I really love how you upcycled this! It’s crazy what a little elbow grease can do….thanks for sharing at Welcome Home Wednesday! I always love a good rainy day DIY project π
Elbow great and lots of water to get that mud off. I’m so happy with how it turned out.
Hi Mary,
Your first picture is just beautiful! Is that from your window?! Glad you found a more durable piece to store your logs in. π Thanks for sharing and for linking up with us at Talented Tuesday.
Cheers,
AJ
Yes AJ, from my kitchen window. So I don’t get bored when I’m washin the dishes. I like to get up in the morning and watch the sun come up, it is spectacular!
Mary, that washtub is absolutely beautiful. You did a fantastic job restoring it to its original glory and it looks great as a wood holder. I hope you are having a great week and take care, Tara
Thanks Tara. I was so happy to be able to rescue it from years of dirt and mud! Now it sits happily by the fireplace. Take care.
This is a beautiful way to store logs, it was meant to be.
It certainly was thanks Sarah!!
Looks like a great way to store your wood. It’s such a neat looking tub, and it cleaned up really well. Turned out really pretty!
Thank goodness Linda. It was a real hot mess before, full of dirt and cobwebs.
If you ever decide you need to get rid of that “washtub” I know a girl in Alabama that is drooling over it…

Nikki that thing is so heavy it is worth its weight in gold. That is also why its perfect for the heavy pieces of wood.

Great transformation. It’s perfect for holding the logs, and the walnut stain is perfect. It really brings out the details on the tub. Thanks for sharing on Sunday’s Best.
Such a great reuse. Sometimes simple is the best.
