A Banner for the Blue Wall - Ένα πανό για το μπλε τοίχο

Sharing is caring!

Hope everyone is well today and you all had a great weekend. I am continuing on my journey to finish my daughter’s Blue room. We are in the final stretch now.  Adding the details and getting rid of all the nasty pink. I had one wall that was looking kind of empty and I also had these beautiful swatches of fabric …well actually the dark blue was a linen skirt, but no one ever wore it. And I thought I’d make a banner for the blue wall.

Now if there is one thing you all know about me, its that I love to reuse what I have at home.  And naturally this was no exception.  I cut them into triangles.

Then I flipped them over and sewed the two sides, up to an inch from the top.

You can also glue them together if you don’t like to use needles and thread. I personally love to hand sew.  Fun fact:  I have a sewing machine but am too lazy to take it out and so I do most of my sewing by hand.

Now I flip them over and this is very important,  iron them so they become nice and stiff and take a  triangular shape, Here is where we get to hide the imperfections by ironing the triangle to our desired shape.

And now to hang them on that forlorn wall.  I took a piece of twine (of course, how could I go for so many posts without using twine!!)  and folded it in two. Then I folded the pieces of fabric over the twine and sewed the tops to close them over the twine.

And because I had lots of fabric left over I covered a few pillows.

It is not perfect, it looks kind of scrunched at the ends but I have extra twine so I can let it out and give more curve to the banner. I actually prefer it this way.

A bit of fabric can make all the difference. And that is how we can keep a wall from being lonely.

Nice repurpose! Cute bunting!! I also love how you made pillows with the leftover fabric!! I'm like you I would rather sew by hand than machine. :-)

They look great! I always think I'll do something like this but then I never do. Maybe the next linen skirt I don't wear will have the same fate as yours.

Stella, I keep clothes around for their fabric value... turning into a hoarder now... In this case, it was a good idea because the fabric is very pretty (photos do not do it justice). Thanks for stopping by!
