The pillow came out nice. She will love it. The buttons really added to it. I can see her snuggling up with it and shoving her hands into the front pockets. 🙂
Krista she was over the moon happy about it. First of all the fact that she recieved a custom, home made gift was more than enough. And it was in her favorite color to boot!
How cute! I love making pillows out of clothing, too. I made a pillow once for a young man out of a tshirt he decorated on a cruise, and he loved it! Gifts like this have such a special meaning. Thanks for sharing on Over the Moon! It’s my first time to link up with that party, so glad to see you there! 🙂 Keep making cool stuff!
These are the gifts closest to my heart Martie! All we need is to use our imagination a little.
Thank you so much for linking at #overthemoon! I look forward to seeing what you share every week. Please come back for #WonderfulWednesday. Don’t forget to comment your link #’s so I can be sure to visit. Pinned and shared.
Thank you Marilyn.
Mary, that pillow is ADORABLE! And adding the buttons was a brilliant addition. I love how this is a gift for a friend and the idea of her having a wee bit of your daughter where ever she goes. You two have really established a wonderful tradition of gifting from the heart…your gifts to your friends and family have a real, personal meaning. Thanks for sharing this great gift project.
Wishing you a lovely Wednesday.
Hugs, LYnn
Lynn, its all about the people around us and how we show that we care about them. The friend was ecstatic to recieve this gift. And when I showed her the post she was beaming.
Very cute idea! Thanks for linking up to Merry Monday! Sharing on MM Pinterest Board! Have a great week!
Kim
Thank you Kim, it was better to reuse than to toss or give away.
Aww, that is so special! The idea is awesome as usual and the way you neatly cross stitched around it is just perfection! It looks very cool, I’m sure your daughters special friend will love having this as a reminder of her when they are not together! Those kind of friendships are the best. You’ve got quite the sweater pillow collection my friend!
The house is full of pillows Katrin, lol! Pretty soon I’ll run out of space to sit on the couch!
What a nice gesture and one that both girls will remember for a long time. I love that you left the opening. I could see my granddaughter putting her hands inside while watching her favorite movie. Thanks for joining us again this week at Celebrate Your Story link party. Hope you have a fun week!
Thank you Sandra. It’s almost like a stuffed toy the way it was made.
I love that you left the hand opening alone. I can just imagine notes and other special items tucked in there. I’ve not ever thought of making a pillow out of a sweatshirt but I’m going to try it now 🙂
I tried to preserve the character of the sweatshirt. And it turned out pretty well according to my girl’s friend. Thank you Mary.
What a lovely, thoughtful idea! I love that you’ve used the hood and sleeves for stuffing. x
Why not if we can use the stuffing then we have less to get rid of. I am frugal that way! Thank you Lisa.
I love the pillow. What is really cool is how you left the opening for just whatever. How sweet of your daughter to think of her friend like that. Her friend will really treasure the pillow made especially for her.
I was trying to preserve the character of the sweat shirt so this is what I came up with. Thank you Debra for your sweet words. The girls are lifelong friends and still going strong.
Mary – this is a great idea to preserve clothing items that mean a lot to you. A really sweet craft idea:)
I always try to find a sue for clothing that is sentimental before giving it away. This turned out perfect for my girl’s friend. Thank you Ilka!
What a fun idea Mary–love it! Thank you for sharing @Vintage Charm! Blessings, Cecilia
Thanks Cecilia I was able to keep a sentimental piece of clothing.
What a fab idea, I’ve made my sons favourite lego star wars T shirts into cushion covers from him when he grew out of them but I just cut the square from the t shirt, I never though to tuck it in and save on the stuffing – so clever!
Its a good idea because it makes the cushions fluffier, and who doesn’t love fluffy. Thanks for stopping by Julie.
What a great project! I love how this turned out. Thanks so much for sharing your project with us at Funtastic Friday.
Thank you Sherry for stopping by.
I love these Mary! It’s something I’ve been meaning to do for ages. You’ve inspired me. Thanks for sharing at Five Star Frou-Frou this week. Love, Mimi xxx
Thank you so much Mimi. I do this all the time. If I posted them there would be quite a few posts on just that.
Such a great idea!! This could be done with just about any shirt! Especially winter sweaters! They would look pretty. Great tutorial, as always!! Thanks for sharing at our DIY Crush Craft Party! Hope to see you again this Thursday at 7pm EST.! We pin every post!
Thanks Denise. I have made many of these put try not to repeat myself in the posts too much.
