Have some fleece scarves that have lost their original shape or usefullness? Why not transform it into a cozy fleece pillow for your couch!

Almost no sew pillow repurposed from scarf #HandmadeXmas2016 - the boondocks blog

This is a fringed fleece scarf.  It has been pulled so much that it goes all the way down to my knees.  It was time to find another purpose for it other than taking up space in my dresser.

Basically I just folded the scarf and tie the fringes together.

Tying the fringe, Almost no-sew fleece pillow - The Boondocks blog

Here is what they look like.

Tied fringes, Almost no-sew fleece pillow - The Boondocks blog

It’s a little time consuming so you can watch something on tv while tying the fringe.  My choice for today was Vampire Diaries… because I have teens!

Tying up fringe, Almost no-sew fleee pillow - The Boondocks blog

After tying all the fringe of one side I cut 1/3 of it. I refolded the 2/3rd and tied the bottom fringes.  The final step was to add the top part.

And I had a pocket. You can do it any way at all, as long as you are  tying the fringes.  I did it this way because I wanted  that particular shape to my pillow.

I stuffed the pocket with a pillow, and closed it by sewing it.  Yes, my method was not a no-sew. You could also use  glue.

So I cheated a little, but at least now I’ve got a beautiful and cool almost no-sew fleece pillow to give as a Christmas gift.  Who am I kidding: I’m gonna keep it for myself.

HA! This is so so clever Mary! I would have never ever thought of doing this. It looks so cool, like a store bought pillow you would pay $30 for! I love the idea, and the fleece and fringes are perfect for winter decor and Christmas! What a clever idea also to start now planning for Christmas! I’m always late with preparing for this although I’m a pretty organized one, but good to have you for all the ideas πŸ˜‰ Now to find a scarf like this one!!!
I love the photos btw.!!! Have a great Monday, friend!!!

Thanks so much Katrin! I have those wonderful ladies from the blog hop to thank for giving me this idea! You see how they did theirs? They had to create a fringe, while I already had one.

Thanks Leanne. I like how it turned out so much. I took it ouside to the balcony to photograph it and the wind was blowing. My daughter was listening to a song and it had these lyrics about “Farah Faucet Hair” and I thought about how my pillow had her hair too! Now why am I telling you all this? Lol!!

Good Afternoon Mary, When I read that you had joined a Christmas Blog Hop, I thought I must have arrived at the wrong page and then when I went on to read, I thought what a brilliant idea. To make one Christmas gift per month is such a good idea. At the moment I am making a Christmas quilt for my daughter, which is almost finished, so that is my first gift…. I’ll have to think of others…. and I can think of a friend who will love your fleece pillow…. it is a brilliant idea.
I smiled when you said you were watching Vampire Diaries because you have teenagers at home…. it was the same for me when our daughters were teenagers, I watched all sorts of things which I wouldn’t normally watch, but it was fun watching with the girls.
    Have a lovely day.
    Best Wishes

Daphne, that’s what I had said too when they proposed this to me… isn’t it too early for Christmas. And yet, here I am making gifts from now. And I’m so thankful for the blog hop because it really helps to have someone cracking the whip so it will all be done by the time Christmas rolls around. And you see, we’re not so crazy after all, A quilt takes time and you’re almost finished! Thanks so much for dropping in. Btw, we are now watching War and Peace on bbc! Really great and they have the time to tell it well because it’s a mini-series.

Mary, what a great idea to make one gift the month so you’re not scrambling at Christmas time. I wish that I was more proactive in this area, especially when I’m up till all hours of the night on Christmas Eve, and while I’m sleeping through my first cup of coffee on Christmas morning. I love the creativity in this pillow it has such interesting texture and I love the way it looks. I think I need to go find myself a French scarf because I need one of these pillows ASAP!

I’ll end up with a bunch of useful things for Christmas and if I am so inclined I may even give them as gifts.
