As you may know I have been working on my older daughter’s room over the summer. So far the room has been painted. And I have shown you some of my projects, the organizer, the bookcase, the wire grid, and the dresser. Now I am at the tail end of finishing up and there are a few odds and ends that need to be taken care of. I have been organizing the desk, but one of the things I did not fix was this lamp.
Όπως ίσως γνωρίζετε έχω εργαστεί στο δωμάτιό της μεγαλύτερης μου κόρης στη διάρκεια του καλοκαιριού. Μέχρι στιγμής, το δωμάτιο έχει βαφεί. Και σας έχω δείξει μερικά από τα έργα μου, ο διοργανωτής, η βιβλιοθήκη, το συρμάτινο πλέγμα, και η συρταριέρα
. Τώρα είμαι στο τέλος αλλά υπάρχουν μερικές λεπτομέρειες που πρέπει να τακτοποιηθούν. Έχω διοργανώσει το γραφείο, αλλά ένα από τα πράγματα που δεν διόρθωσα ήταν ο λαμπτήρας.
This is the Frankenstein lamp – my name for it, because it was put together from other pieces. It used to be a MORKER desk lamp from Ikea, till the top part broke off. Don’t ask me how this happened, I don’t remember and I don’t want to remember.
Αυτή είναι η λάμπα του Φρανκενστάιν – το όνομά μου γι ‘αυτό, επειδή ήταν μπαλωμένο από άλλα κομμάτια. Παλιότερα ηταν μια λάμπα γραφείου Mörker από το ΙΚΕΑ, μέχρι που το πάνω μέρος έσπασε. Μην με ρωτάτε πώς συνέβη αυτό, δεν θυμάμαι και δεν θέλω να θυμηθώ.
After the top part broke off I replaced it with a lampshade I had inherited from somewhere. Lucky me to find these parts that almost fit.
Έπειτα που το πάνω μέρος έσπασε, εγώ το αντικατέστησα
με ένα καπέλο που είχα κληρονομήσει από κάπου. Τυχερή που ήμουν να βρω αυτά τα κομμάτια που σχεδόν ταίριαζαν.
Of course the base was pink and our quest for the summer was to banish the pink, so I painted the base using an acrylic white paint. It took about 4 coats to really eliminate that pink.
Φυσικά, η βάση ήταν ροζ και η αναζήτηση μας για το καλοκαίρι ήταν να διώξουμε το ροζ, έτσι έβαψα τη βάση με ένα ακρυλικό λευκό χρώμα. Χρειάστηκαν περίπου 4 στρώσεις για να εξαφανίσω αυτό το ροζ.
So far so good, now about that lovely lamp shade which looks like it is having a color crisis. My main colors for the room are blue, black/white and a touch of orange/coral. What I did was paint over the cacophony of colors with a heavy hand of black.
Μέχρι εδώ καλά τα πήγα. Τώρα γι ‘αυτό το υπέροχο πορτατίφ που μοιάζει να έχει μια κρίση χρώματος. Κυρίαρχα χρώματα για το δωμάτιο είναι μπλε, μαυρόασπρο και λίγο πορτοκαλί/
κοράλλι. Έβαψα την κακοφωνία των χρωμάτων ένα βαρύ χέρι του μαύρου.
Here you can see that black has become the dominant color and all the others pale in comparison.
Εδώ μπορείτε να δείτε ότι το μαύρο έχει γίνει το κυρίαρχο χρώμα και όλα τα άλλα μοιάζουν χλωμά σε σύγκριση.
When placed on the desk it looks like it actually belongs there now and does not stick out like a sore thumb.
Όταν τοποθετείται στο γραφείο, τώρα πραγματικά μοιάζει να ανήκει εκεί.

And so the Frankenstein lamp has become less of a Frankenstein and more of a cool lamp that belongs with the rest. Maybe if they had given Frankie a makeover he wouldn’t have gotten into so much trouble.
Και έτσι η λάμπα του Φρανκενστάιν έχει γίνει λιγότερο Φρανκενστάιν και περισσότερο μια κουλ λάμπα που ανήκει με τα υπόλοιπα. Ίσως αν είχε δοθεί ένα makeover –
μια πλήρη μεταμόρφωση, στον Φράνκι, δεν θα είχε πάρει το στραβό δρόμο και να απέφευγε τόσα πολλά πρόβλημα.

Mary, you did a great job on the lamp! It looks so much better now and still has some color, just not so bright the black tones it down.

Linda it was like a rainbow in here too many colors. Now at least the room is a bit more subdued. Every little bit helps.

It looks so much better now! I'm sure I would have given up on that poor little pink lamp, but you rescued it, and it looks perfect with the other accessories.

Hi Meredith! It needed something, we are on a quest to change up the room and make it more hum, hum "adult" but still sort of girly!

Γεια σου Χριστίνα! Και εγώ χαίρομαι που με επισκέπτηκες! Τα Αγγλικά σου είναι υπέροχα, αλλά τα ελληνικά μου έχουν χώρο για βελτίωση. Δεν πειράζει, το σημαντικό είναι να επικοινωνούμε! Αν εννοεις με το Is Greece everywhere ότι είμαι παντού...όχι είμαι στην Ελλάδα προς το παρόν. Αλλά θέλω να είμαι διεθνείς!!

Stella, I thought about that but I decided against it because it would have become too dark and not let enough light shine through. Plus it was less work!!
