Now that December is finally here we have no excuse not to go full on Christmas decorating and craft making.
I made this ornament for my tree a few weeks ago, but I’m sharing it today; how to make easy snowflake mini canvas ornaments.

What I Used:
The How To:
We had actually bought the cookie cutter from TJ Max about a year ago. But I don’t remember if we ever used it for its’ intended purpose.
Of course that didn’t stop me from having visions of using it for crafts. I did not hesitate to slather it with too much metallic paint. Before applying it to the canvas I pressed it once on a paper towel to remove the excess paint. I didn’t want it looking like a blob.
In order to be able to hang them, I used thin twine and glued it onto the backs of the canvas. If you have a glue gun then use that. I used liquid glue.
And here is the end result. Very subtle. And very simple!
Below you can see just how it shines!

I wasn’t at all worried that the stencil didn’t come out perfect. After all snow flakes are not the same and they are not perfect!
It looks right at home next to all that white and sparkly stuff.
And adds a little something different to the tree.
I honestly think this has to be the easiest ornament I ever made. It took maybe all of five minutes excluding the dry time of the glue.

Oh I love this idea, Mary! Very cute and oh so easy to make but the possibilities for stenciling the mini canvas are endless 🙂
Exactly Marie, and they were super cheap to buy. You can make a bunch of ornaments for practically nothing.
Love this! Quick and pretty is my kinda holiday DIY.
Libbie @alifeunfolding
I agree, we need to have time to do a little shopping as well.
These are cute and so easy to make! Love what a simple idea this is, so easy a child could make these for his mom and dad (could see teachers using these stamps at school and adding the child’s name and year, etc.). Pinning and sharing to my FB page for you. <3
Hugs and Happy Christmas season to you,
Barb 🙂
You are so right Barbara. Too bad I don’t have any little ones to help me. The grand dog is not very crafty. Haha!!
What a great idea!! Thanks for sharing, it’s beautiful!
Thanks so much Cheryl!
Thanks so much for stopping by and thanks for the Congrats on my son and daughter-in-law’s wedding!!
Hugs,
Debbie
I am so happy for all of you!!
I love it Mary. I don’t have time for Christmas baking (for now) but this ornament is so cute and I have a set of cookie cutters!
I didn’t know the canvases came in such a small size, they are so adorable and using the cookie cutter as a stamp, very cute idea Mary, love these!!
very cute idea! I love how simple this is.
Thanks for sharing your cute ornaments at Vintage Charm!
I’m all for five minute crafts Mary, especially when they look that good!!
What a really cute and simple idea! Thanks for sharing. Coming over from Senior Salon!
The canvas ornaments are so adorable. I love how they sparkle and shine.
Debra that paint I used really made the snowflakes pop!
Look at you sweet lady with your crafty self! I always enjoy seeing your wonderful creations. I actually felt a little crafy over the weekend and made one craft. Not sure how I am liking it though. Going to try doing it another way and see how it turns out. If decent….I might just show it! LOL! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
I’m glad to hear that Cindy. If we can’t be crafty during the holidays then when can we be? This is the time to fill up our homes with what we love best and what reflects our style. I’ll be looking out for your creations.
This is adorable. I wonder if you can use another fabric too.
I imagine you can Maria. These are little canvas things that we paint on normally.
Mary, you always have such creative and low-cost ideas for decorating! I am Jewish so I never decorated a Christmas tree, but these small DIY canvas decorations with the glittery paint do look good amongst the other items. But I can think of similar uses for such DIY decorations using snowflakes or perhaps a different image or symbol that has nothing to do with the Christmas holiday itself. Thanks for sharing the idea. Pinned.
Deborah these can be used for any type of decor and you can add any images on them at all. I can only imagine the possibilities.
these are darling, Mary. And I love those mini-canvases, don’t you? The snowflakes look so pretty on the tree!
When I spotted them Jeanie I instantly fell in love with the mini size!
Snowflakes arent perfect? I’m devastated! Next you will be telling me Santa’s not real!
Great job, as usual, Mary. Your home will have a unique , warm feeling at Christmas that comes from effort, not money.
Cath I will confess to nothing of the sort. I was actually looking for Santa the other day at the mall and was overjoyed when he finally showed up!
Does your hubby know you’re chasing after another man in a beard?
Cath
Too cute Mary, love the idea. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen ready made canvases that are so small. I’m going to have to get some of those for my miniature portraits. It’s going to save a lot of prepping time.
I’m sure you can find some at Amazon. They have lots of different sizes and yes it would save you a lot of time. Can you imagine Pumpkin man 2 on one of them?
LOL, I was thinking the same thing 😀
What lovely little ornaments! I love how you have repurposed the cookie cutter. Pinning. Thank you for sharing, and for being a part of the Hearth and Soul Link Party. Hope to see you again this week. Have a great week ahead!
