The nest started out as a homely wreath. It looked like this …

Those are so cool! That is just the sort of Easter decoration that I’d love to have in my home. It’s perfectly rustic and I love the color palette! So beautifully done, Mary! <3
Gina I usually paint them red, the traditional color. But nothing is traditional in my home anymore.. haha !
A perfect nest and such pretty wreaths, lovely ideas for Easter
Thank you Caroline, I had a lot of fun making this and getting crazy with the eggs.
Every spring, I’m on the lookout for interesting ways to display my decorated eggs. I love your idea about creating a “nest” from a grapevine wreath!
Mimi nothing is safe in my house. Everything gets repurposed!
Mary, I love the look of your rustic eggs, with the brown and white designs! And a clever way to make a nest for them!
It was a very simple idea but it all came together nicely Carol.
I really love how your things get multiple makeovers, seeing them transform not once but over and over. This is a really pretty and classy Easter decoration.
I hate to buy new things Julie because we never have enough room to store them. This way I have one thing for multiple uses.
You are so clever to use a wreath to make a cute easter nest! It looks adorable, and I love how you let the natural brown of the eggs show through the painting.
This one evolved on its own Rebecca. The eggs were brown and looked nice with the wreath but needed a little bit of a pop!
Hi Mary, what a lovely nest. The brown eggs are a great touch.
Marjan we had chickens last year and they generously provided us with those lovely eggs.
I love these eggs because they look so natural with a little decoration. I love your style Mary!!
Thank you Sherry. They were a simple craft that actually surprised me of the outcome
I love the use of brown eggs and can’t believe I’ve never even thought of dyeing eggs other than white. Nicely done and such a unique look.
Thank you Kathryn, I’ve only dyed whatever my hen gave to me. I cannot afford to make her angry and have her stop laying eggs! lol
I love your rustic eggs, Mary! Such a nice variation on the usual pastel eggs! Thanks so much for linking up at Best of the Weekend!
I got tired of the traditional red and thought the white looked nice with the rustic brown. Thank you Amy!
Hi Mary, when the children were small we painted eggs for Easter, but now they are older we leave it to my Mum, who loves getting stuck in with the red dye.
Your Easter nest is very subtle and natural looking. I like it and hope your chicken is a prolific layer as Easter is a long way off!
xx
That’s what I did too Deb, always with that red dye that stayed on my hands for days. I am very proud of miss hen. She is now having her 15 minutes of fame!
Mary, there’s something about those eggs that intrigue me. Maybe it’s that they’re out of the ordinary, or maybe it’s that I love neutrals. Whatever it is, I love them!
I see I’ve missed a lot lately. I’ll be home in about 8 days and will be sure to catch up then.
XXX
We miss you Doreen and now that spring is on the way you can come home. My hen is very happy with what I did with her eggs. She’s becoming a regular diva!
Mary, the rustic eggs are just beautiful! I always love reading about the Greek culture and I love the Easter tradition with the candles. Thank you for sharing with us at Welcome Home Wednesdays!
Thank you Ceystal. I discided to be riske and not do the traditional red for Easter, but don’t worry we still have a month before our Easter so I’ll probably do the red. No escaping tradition.
Mary, I love the rustic look that you’ve given these eggs, it looks like a nest you would find in the woods or on a farm, with a decorative twist! It really looks like spring, and I’m waiting on the mama to come sit on the nest!
Nikki all I know is that I have one hen at the farm and now she is going to be a super diva with all of this publiciity! Haha. Hopefuly she’ll give me some more eggs to decorate for the real easter which is a month away.
Lovely nest and lovely nest. I really like the chalk, something different from the normal painted eggs. Happy Easter to you!
Sally @ Life Loving
#LifeLovingLinkie
That’s exactly what I thought too. SOmething a bit different to match the wreth/nest. Happy Easter Sally!
I LOVE the naturalness of your display. The chalk paint on top of the natural color is gorgeous and your rustic nest just brings it all together!
Thank you Trudy. I was really happy with the outcome of this one and it lasted (because those were real eggs) till Easter!
What a lovely nest of eggs Mary – I love it
Thank you Amber.
Mary your nest with rustic eggs for Easter decoration is very attractive. We are going to feature your post on the next Blogger’s Pit Stop.

Blogger’s Pit Stop
When my kids were little, we would start long before Easter blowing out the eggs; we ate scrambled eggs for weeks so the blown out shells lasted for years (or until they got broken; I still have a few!). I swear the egg white helped reinforce the shells! Miss those times. Thanx for giving me some great ideas; I have more grapevines in the yard that need to come down; smaller wreathes for nests may be in my future!
Such a simple idea, brilliant!
Oh these eggs are SO pretty! I would be proud to display them on my table 🙂
Thanks Sinea. I really love that rustic look.
Beautiful eggs! I was so drawn to the picture…love all things with that natural look. Perfect for spring, we definitely need some here in Virginia, snow storm today! My husband is Greek (Dad came over to US as a child) and we would love to visit one day!
We also had a snowstorm Tracey and I am so tired of all this cold. When living in Greece it never got this cold and I really longed for the snow but now that I am here and reality has set it, I am done with it! haha! I would highly recommend you visit one day you will not regret it.
What a fabulous idea! I love how the wreath turned out after you painted it. It looks so realistic! I may have to try something like this myself this season. 🙂
I need to go and find me another one of these vine wreaths, it was my favorite!
This is so cute! I love how you used the brown eggs! So perfect for Easter and spring! Thank you for sharing at Celebrate It!
Thank you for visiting!!
Your vintage eggs are really popular I see by the comments! And I am featuring your story on #omhgff this week, pinned to share your story!!
Thank you so much Karren!
Your eggs and nest look wonderful Mary. This year I have an idea using brown eggs, but have not started it yet. I love yours, its great how you made them all look different yet cohesive.
This is adorable! Thank you for adding it to #SaturdaySharefest
I love the color of the eggs, the touches of white, you created some pretty rustic eggs. I just bought 2 dozen of white eggs, I may water color them.
Maria
Your eggs are delightful and such good instructions! Happy Spring! ~jeanie from Marmelade Gypsy
Thank you Jeanie, happy Spring to you too!
Mary, are the eggs hardboiled? Is that a silly question? I assume they are or they probably would have broke when you were decorating them. Just curious. A very cute idea and I love the white paint on the wreath
Yes Debbie they are hardboiled and they lasted quite a while before they started to smell. It was definitely worth it.
That is so smart to turn the wreath into a nest! Love your rustic eggs too.
Thanks Ashley. I had fun with this one.
I haven’t decorated Easter eggs for a quite a few years. I haven’t figured out how to die my brown organic eggs. You have solved that problem! Although would you really keep them out that long? It seems like they would go bad before May!
Easy nest to make and love the eggs. Found you on Blogger’s Pit Stop Link Party.
The eggs and nest look great. What a fun decorative idea.
This is great. I have a thing for nests I think because my nest is empty. 🙁 Just two old birds left.
These eggs are so cutely painted, and the nest looks awesome as well!!!
I truly like the look of these eggs leaving the natural brown and adding the white. Very nice!
The wreath nest looks lovely filled with your rustic eggs. Thanks for sharing your idea on MM.
How fun Mary, Thanks for the Blog Hop, I linked up my Easy Easter Nest! Your nest is lovely, I love the rustic wreath you used for it and the natural tone of the eggs paired with the white designs is right up my alley! It looks lovely and very natural and rustic! How nice to have fresh eggs from your own hen!
Katrin about those eggs, I should have done them the way you mentioned to me later on. Now I can only hope they don’t stink up before too long. I boiled them and then painted them. But we must make sacrifices for our blogs.
Mary what a cute nest and eggs! Thank you for sharing @Vintage Charm and also for hosting the Easter hop!
Thank you Cecilia for visiting with us. And for your sweet comment.
Mary – your Easter nest has such a great rustic natural appeal! You did a great job!
Thanks Ilka. I am slowly but surely moving in the farmhouse rustic direction, and I guess it’s only fitting since we do have a farm.
These eggs look great. Thanks for sharing at The Creative Circle.
Thank you Angela for taking the time to comment.
love your eggs – you know I love color but the white/tan look great together, these rustic eggs do not need anything else. I am sure they appreciate the cool nest you made 🙂 thanks for inspiring us today!
Thank you Millie! I just need to put a label out that says “for display purposes only” so no one will eat my chalk paint! lol
How darling! I love your little Easter nest and the painted eggs are the perfect rustic touch. I always admire how well you pull things together in natural way that works so well:) Pinning my friend!
Thank you so much Wendi! I wanted to try something different this year instead of the usual red eggs and it is a refreshing change.
Thank you for stopping by to share this fun Easter project on Friday Features this week. Have a great weekend!
Thank you Karren for visiting and leaving such a lovely comment.
Your spring nest turned out lovely! I like the browns and how you add some white to them. I would think since you boiled them they should be ok for a while. I haven’t even started on spring, I had been working on St. Patrick”s Day. I sure need to get it together (-;
The funny thing Linda is that my Easter is in May, so I am way too early with all this, but you have to make sacrifices for your art 😉 lol I don’t have to worry about St Patrick’s here in Greece we have the carnival to finish with.
I love the idea of using a grapevine wreath for a nest! And your painted eggs look so perfect in it! You are very lucky to have fresh eggs. This is perfect for spring and Easter!
Yes, it came together wonderfully at the last minute Celeste. Although my hen is a bit finicky about laying her eggs.
Thank you for the party invite. I love the way you did the eggs. They are so sophisticated looking. The whole presentation is spot on.
Thanks so much Debra. Now at some point I’ll have to make some more eggs because I don’t think these will survive till May.
I really like how the eggs turned out. They look awesome! I really have to get some chalk paint. But…I am wondering if you hard boiled them first? I am just curious. You have a chicken?!!
Thanks Krista. I have one chicken at the farm and she lays her eggs wherever she pleases. A diva! I did hard boil them but I’m not sure if it would be a good idea to eat them. I celebrate Easter May 1st so I’ll be making another batch till then. These are for display purposes only..lol
What a great idea to paint your natural eggs! Love the contrast of white and brown for a nice new easterly look!!!
That’s exatly what prompted me to paint them Gail, the contrast of the white against the brown. A new look for me because I usually go with red.
My eggs last year were a complete blue disaster so I don’t have a link to be proud of! This year I guess with all this inspiration I’ll do a better job!
As long as we don’t eat them we can experiment to our hearts content. This is the first year I’m stepping away from the traditional red. I s hould have a label that says “for blogging purposes only” lol
Love your embellished brown Easter Eggs Mary! Your photography is stunning in this post – LOVE.
Thanks Marie, Now I just have to remind myself not to eat them. haha! My lone hen should come up with another batch for Easter.
You are my feature this weekend at the DIY Sunday Showcase Party!
Mary, I love these natural colored eggs!! The brown and white look so wonderful together!! Your designs are really cool too!! Yes, let’s hope your chicken gives you lots more eggs!! 🙂
Really that chicken is such a diva! Lays them when and WHERE she want to.
What a cute Easter nest idea!!! I just love the natural tones! Happy Easter to you and your family! 🙂
Thank you so much Sam. And a happy Easter to you too!
Mary, your nest is so lovely. I really like you kept most of the real color of the egg, and the white paint makes it pop and it’s a great combination together.
Don’t push your hen too hard, she’s done a wonderful job.
That’s what I like about it Pili. The combination of the brown with the white. I guess I have to thank Mrs. Hen for her beautiful brown eggs.
Using a wreath was so smart! I had no idea your nest was a former wreath until I looked further. The way you painted the eggs is so cute too. I really like the color palette. Happy Easter!
Thank you so much Jess. It was a very easy project all that it needed was a different way of looking at the wreath.
Mary, this is so cute! I love that you reused an old wreath for the nest. The colors are perfect for a rustic Easter decor piece. Pinned and Tweeted. Thank you for sharing at Snickerdoodle Sunday!
Thank you Beverly, it is a real surprise to me that it turned out so well.
It turned out great! I’m popping back by to let you know this will be my Snickerdoodle Special Feature of the Week at tomorrow’s party.See you at the party!
These are beautiful! I love the brown and white ~ stunning!
Thank you for sharing this week at Brag About It link party on VMG206 (Mondays at Midnight).
~ Megin of VMG206
Megin thank you for your sweet comment. I am so happy my hen came through for me.
I would never have thought to make a nest out of the wreath! I see those all the time at thrift stores, I’ll have to pick one up and transform it!
Thank you Brianna. It was so easy to make just with everyday objects.
Your eggs looks wonderful!
Thanks Maarit! I used the natural color of the egg plus some chalk paint.
This is one of the best nests I have seen. I love, love, love the rustic look 🙂 Thanks for posting at Over The Moon!
Thank you Renee, and it was an easy job, just with what I had at home.
Your eggs are so pretty!
Thank you T’onna. My hen would be proud!
Mary, Your Easter Egg display is wonderful! I love that you used things that you have at home right down to the piece of green velvet! Thanks so much for sharing with us at Snickerdoodle Sunday!
~Laurie
Thank you Laurie. It was a last minute idea but I think the hen approves.
Using small twiggy wreaths as nests is a great idea! Using brown eggs with white decorations is the perfect touch. Happy Easter!
It was an easy project. And they complimented each other perfectly. Thank you for the visit.
Your nest is truly the best! This post was truly a joy to read and I hope that you will continue adding your ray of sunshine every week on Thoughts of Home on Thursdays.
Thank you for your kind words Laura. It seems that the projects that are done at the last minute turn out the best sometimes.
What a cute idea! I love how you re-used so many other items. Thanks for linking up to The Creative Circle. See you this Thursday!
Jen that’s what my blog is about, reusing and repurposing. Thank you for visiting.
Great post. These are super cute eggs. Simple but lovely
Thank you so much Charlene. I think even my hen would be happy.
Clever idea for a nest, Mary, and it looks so lovely with your brown and white decorated eggs (love them!). Thanks for linking them up at Vintage Charm 🙂
Thanks Diana, I’m happy I was able to find the eggs cause my hen is a bit of a roamer.
