I would like to take a minute to wish you all a very Happy and Healthy New Year. If you should chance upon a pomegranate throw it down on the ground. If it smashes it means the household will have prosperity and fertility, as much as the seeds that come tumbling out of the fruit. We greeks love our traditions! As the years go by we need to think about our Health above all else! I know that I have found my health with this blog. It may not be a health blog but I have found my creative outlet here which gives me a healthy frame of mind. And so my wish for all of you this year is to pursue what you love and to have health and happiness for the New Year. May we all have a blessed 2017! Wishing you a Happy, Healthy, Prosperous, Creative 2017! As for throwing a pomegranate onto the ground, at the price they sell them here I'd be licking those seeds off the concrete. lol

Marie, Happy New Year! We have pomegranate trees at the farm so I take them for granted. Haha. I don't even eat them I just use them for decoration.

Happy New Year Mary! I hope you and your family have a healthy and prosperous new year. Here in Texas I grew up believing that eating blackeyed peas on New Years day will make our year a prosperous one. The only time of the year I eat them because I don't care for them. LOL

Linda I love black eyed peas. And I eat them all year long. Now isn't that funny because I don't care for pomegranates. I only use them for decor. Happy New Year.

Shirley this country is full of traditions and special ways of doing everything. I think I'd need to write a book to tell them all.
