A Happy New Year to All!

Sharing is caring!

I would like to take a minute to wish you all a very Happy and Healthy New Year.

If you should chance upon a pomegranate  throw it down on the ground.  If it smashes it means the household will have prosperity and fertility, as much as the seeds that come tumbling out of the fruit. We greeks love our traditions!

I had never heard of that tradition with the pomegranate before. This afternoon I was up at my parents house with my camera hoping to get a nice shot of some pomegranate on there tree, but I am a tad too late as there tree is empty…. Next year we will have to give the tradition a go.
    xx

  20. Wishing you a Happy, Healthy, Prosperous, Creative 2017! As for throwing a pomegranate onto the ground, at the price they sell them here I’d be licking those seeds off the concrete. lol

    • Mary says:

Marie, Happy New Year! We have pomegranate trees at the farm so I take them for granted. Haha. I don’t even eat them I just use them for decoration.

  21. My dear Mary I wish you all the best for you and your family for New Year!!!

    • Mary says:

Thank you so much Christina/ I too wish you a wonderful year and the welcome of your grand-baby!

  22. Happy New Year Mary! I hope you and your family have a healthy and prosperous new year. Here in Texas I grew up believing that eating blackeyed peas on New Years day will make our year a prosperous one. The only time of the year I eat them because I don’t care for them. LOL

    • Mary says:

Linda I love black eyed peas. And I eat them all year long. Now isn’t that funny because I don’t care for pomegranates. I only use them for decor. Happy New Year.

  23. Poppy says:
