How to make a Fun Tube Halloween Wreath

Sharing is caring!

Are you all sick of seeing Halloween decor from me by now?  Well, just in case you aren’t, I have another one for today, but the nice thing is that I am doing this with a group of friends and they are extremely talented.

You won’t see Paranoid Man lurking in their projects.  Today I am going to show you how to make a fun tube Halloween wreath. And after we are done you can join us in the link party below and add your Halloween craft.

I had made a schizophrenic wreath last year which was part fall and part Halloween.  But this year I wanted to make a wreath using unusual material.  I had these tubes at home and really wanted to repurpose them.  I’m not even sure where we got them from.

To secure the hose I used two cable ties.  I pulled hard on them and really secured that hose.

I then covered the tie up with a piece of black fabric and added the former Barbie paddles that I used last in my Christmas in July project.  The good thing about them is that the other side is blackboard and you can draw anything.

I then took a red piece of fabric, because we are anti-orange in this house for Halloween, and wrapped it around the hose.

The next step was easy.  I had a wooden spoon which had a crack down the middle so I painted it using white acrylic paint and then drew a face on with a marker. Then I added a red ribbon and a piece of  twine on the top to attach it to the top of the wreath.

The final step was to add a black sparkly fabric to break up the monotones.

And my quirky wreath is done.  I always look for opportunities to use what I have at home.

Isn’t my little spoon ghost cute?

While photographing the wind blew, one of the hazards of  taking  pictures outdoors.  Here is the back of the paddle with a Christmas scene. But it is fine for us because the blackboard side is so versatile.

And when Halloween is done it will be so easy to update this and use it for another holiday, like Christmas.  “wink”

Of course our grumpy Paranoid Man had to get in on the action.  He is really worried about that scary looking doll.

  2. What a fun linkup! Love all the interesting Halloween decor. You have made your home a wonderland of treasures to look at and admire for the season. I love it.
The tubes look like vacuum cleaner tubes and it makes for the coolest texture in the wreath! Those barbie paddles are seeing some real action, it was a great idea to make one side chalk board painted. You can use it for any occasion.
The poor paranoid pumpkin! He’s really surrounded now!

    • Mary says:

Yes Nikki that is exactly what they look like vacuum cleaner tubes. But I was going for a totally different look than traditional and why not have some fun while I’m at it.

  3. Sandra Garth says:

What a great way to repurpose!

  4. Pili says:

Mary, you’ll have a fun Halloween party with all those Halloween decorations. Love the tube wreath (who would have think of it?) and the spoon ghost is so cute. Sorry, I guess it was made to be spooky but he’s cute.
Have a great time with family and enjoy the party!

  5. Beverly says:

I love this idea. What a great recycle project. I have some of that tubing in my garage. I think it was from our swimming pool cleaner. The paddles are priceless.
    Bev

    • Mary says:

Go get that tubing Bev and make a wreath for Christmas and put it outside where the weather will not affect it.

  6. Cindy says:

You come up with the neatest things Mary. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  7. Debbie says:

Hi Mary, your little spoon ghost is very cute, I’d probably want to take him in though! I think the tie at the top of the wreath would make a nice hair tie, all big and autumnal.
    Happy Halloween.
    xx

    • Mary says:

Thanks Debbie, I actually have it indoors because I want to create atmosphere for the party. It is a bit over the top and fun. Happy Halloween dear friend.

  8. I love all your projects, they all put a smile on my face and you have such a unique style to your decorating and crafting. Very creative.
    Maria

    • Mary says:

Thank you Maria. I wanted to do something fun with this and I have put it indoors so the kids can see it for the party.

  9. Eleana Apst says:

Μαίρη μου τι πρωτότυπο στεφάνι!! Πήρες αντικείμενα με διαφορετικές χρήσεις και τους έδωσες δεύτερη ευκαιρία!! Η κουτάλα τέλεια!!

    • Mary says:

      Ελεανα, όπως ξέρεις και συ δεν υπάρχουν διακοσμητικα εδώ στην Ελλάδα για αυτή τη συγκεκριμένη γιορτη, και έτσι σκέφτηκα ας κάνω ότι θέλω. Ποιος θα με σταματήσει;

  10. You know I’m an electrical engineer right? Imagine the meters of tubes I work with! This is the best wreath ever made!

    • Mary says:

Katerina I had no idea. So you must have a ton of this stuff lying around. Do you know how many Christmas wreaths you can make out of it?

  11. Jann Olson says:

So fun! I too love using things that I have on hand. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
    hugs,
    Jann

  12. Maria says:

You are too funny! I love how it turned out! You have a great creative mind!
    Maria

  13. Amber Harrop says:

I love how you turn everyday objects into something seasonal like this and how you always think ahead to other projects like making it doublesided Mary

  14. The finished product is adorable. I never would have thought to repurpose in quite that way.

  15. Leanna says:

Hi Mary: I was just on the Shoestring Elegence party and saw where you are the monthly featured blogger. That is the second time today. Two separate features in one month. Way to go. Congrats

  16. Diana says:

You have such a knack for upcycling, Mary! Your wreath is so much fun; I bet the kids love it. Thanks so much for linking it up at Vintage Charm. And congratulations–your soft green bedroom set was selected as our October Feature of the Month!

  17. Mary, your creative talents never cease to amaze me! Who would of thought to use hoses like that.
I’m still in love with paranoid man. I hope you never retire him lol xo

  18. debbie says:

Mary you come up with some of the most unusual bases for common decor items. When it is done everyone knows exactly what it is and you just shake your head…who would have thought! Super creative and cute

    • Mary says:

Thanks Debbie. I wanted to have some fun with this one. After all Halloween is not a serious holiday.

  19. You never cease to amaze me with both your outside-of-the-box creativity and your reuse of stuff found around the house! Your Halloween wreath is adorable and those paddles could be simply flipped over and ta da, you have yourself a holiday wreath! Pinned to share.
Unfortunately I won’t be participating in the fun linky party because we are the ones on the street (now that we’re empty nesters) to shut off our lights and walk over to our neighborhood pub and pretend Halloween isn’t happening! Hence, I’ve got nothing Halloweenish to share.

    • Mary says:

You know me, I’m lazy when it comes to crafts! 😉
I understand perfectly, as youmay have guessed I had nothing Halloweenish to share till this year when I decided to throw this party for the kids. It was only then that I turned around and started making all this wacky stuff. Have a great time at the pub and have a drink on me!

  20. Leanna says:

Hi Mary: That evil grin character face you use slays me lol. I never considered it, but you can make a wreath out of absolutely anything round. Another novel well done repurposing, love it as usual.

    • Mary says:

Absolutely Leanna, anything that is round can be made into a wreath. Although the pumpkin man is not happy about all these going ons in the house.

  21. So adorable Mary, and I love the idea of the blackboards! I don’t have a great entrance for wreaths (it’s a screen door), but I love them nonetheless!
    xxx

    • Mary says:

Doreen I have a wooden door and I will not put a nail in it. I just hang them up anywhere at all.

  22. Kellie says:

I love the spoon ghost. The whole thing is do untraditional, and I love it!

  23. I love how your wreath is already partially ready for Christmas – and I love how you just threw this together from things you had on hand – it looks so cool! Have a great week, Mary!

  24. Too cute, Mary! You have a gift for thinking outside the box when crafting! Love it!

  25. Mary, you utterly amaze me! What you have done with those old tubes, orange cloth, and a few other bits!

  26. Michelle says:

That’s the cutest thing ever Mary and the little spoon ghost is too precious. Poor, poor paranoid pumpkin he really has had a torrid time lately, maybe Christmas crafts will cheer him up?

    • Mary says:

Michelle, we will have to see what happens to that poor pumpkin once the party starts. Will he hide away?

  27. Keri says:

Mary, this is such a great use of those tunes! I like the paddles and that spoon made to look like a ghost!! Very creative! Oh I also noticed paranoid man changed his hat, very cool! I can tell you’re having so much fun with your Halloween decorations. 🙂

    • Mary says:

Yes my Paranoid Man is trying out all the hats in the house. I have to chase after him because he leaves them all over the house, worst than a child. 😉

  28. Kim says:

I’ll never get sick of your crafts, Mary, Halloween or otherwise!! I love the Christmas on one side, Halloween on the other…a girl after my own dual purpose DIY heart!! 🙂

  29. Beverly says:

What a fun and cute repurposing project! I love your creativity, Mary! The spoon ghost is a great addition to the wreath.

  30. Such a fun and unique Halloween wreath!!

  31. Lisa Lee says:

This is so cute!!! I love how you used items out of the ordinary!

  32. You never cease to amaze me with the creative things you make out of stuff I would have walked right by!

    • Mary says:

And this comes about because I spend my days looking at so many creative blogs. I think we have the best jobs in the world!

  33. Mary, you did it again with another fun project. The little spoon ghost is too cute, and I like the evil chalk face on the paddle.
Did poor Paranoid man get him a new hat?

    • Mary says:

Poor Paranoid man has been running around trying on all the hats in the house and making a mess Linda! 😉

  34. Ilka says:

Mary – you are an endless source of creativity. I’m always amazed how you find inspiration with the most unexpected materials! Happy Halloween! Just noticed this link-up and linked up my spiders! Boo!

  35. Katrin says:

Hahaha, Mary you never dissapoint my friend, this is a really fun Halloween wreath made out of an old tube! who would have thought of that!!?? You have such a great imagination and are so creative! The little spoon ghost is really cute!

    • Mary says:

I like that little spoon too. It had cracked and I thought I should not throw it away because as you can see I found a use for it.

  36. I love how you see beautiful decorating ideas from found objects. I love your wreath. Pinned and Stumbled.

  37. Fabulous re-purposing, using blackboards is such a great idea for Halloween, and it certainly is a pin-worthy image!
