Well hello there. It is a bit early for our Int’l Bloggers Club Challenge but that’s okay. Instead of waiting till the end of the month we have moved up our monthly challenge so that you can also benefit from out Halloween projects for the month of October.
I am teaming up with my International friends to bring you Halloween crafts this month. You can see everyone’s crafts on the bottom of the post. In the past, we have done Fall Crafts and Back to School crafts.
But this month I’m throwing a Halloween party for the kids! Now tell me is that not the perfect excuse to go all out for Halloween crafts and Fun and Easy Halloween Vignettes?
But first, I’d like to talk a little bit about Halloween in Greece….
…
…
It is non-existent.
In Greece, as in other European countries we celebrate the Carnival. It takes place right before Lent which would be between January and March. If you’d like to learn more about the Carnival in Greece you can go over to a guest post I did at my friend Sue’s blog, Sizzling toward Sixty.
This year, I am bucking the trend and throwing a party for my daughter, the one of You Tube fame who absolutely loves Halloween. A friend of hers came over and they got down to business. We also want to take this opportunity to thank the very talented Nadia for working on the crafts with us. Below is a shameful picture of the two girls in the middle of a giant mess… yes folks, that is what a blogger’s house looks like most days.
Painted gourds and an old tin can covered in black fabric and dressed as a mummy with eyes made from buttons! How preposterous!
And on the other side the Mummy couple is all dressed up for an outing. How dare they have such fake looking eyes made with felt!
Little Miss Gourd has spotted Paranoid man and is afraid of his scowl! She consults with Mummy Man. What should they do?
The walnut eyeballs area all abuzz!
But Mrs. Mummy is not fazed by Paranoid Man’s scowl and calms everyone down. After all she is very charming with her ruby red lips.
Is Paranoid Man going to leave them alone, to dwell on the Drunken Table?

Maybe the oracle eyeball has the answer!
At least before the flowers dry out and fall to the ground.
Paranoid man sees that he is outnumbered again…drats !!
He’s leaving them alone! Goodbye, good riddance and we’ll throw away the keys!
Poor Mr. Mummy was so frightened his button eyes nearly fell off.
This was our attempt at a not so spooky story. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did creating it. And you can see that nothing out of the ordinary was used to create this fun and easy Halloween Vignette.
Did you like Paranoid Man’s new witch hat?

I loved looking at the pictures Mary. Looks like you had a ball with the girls. Fun times making lots of not so spooky memories! Ha! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
This was so much fun and I love the expressions on the mummies and gourds. Thanks for the behind the scenes look. I don’t think I have the nerve to show my kitchen after a baking session. Thank you for sharing with us this week at Celebrate Your Story and we hope you will join us again next week.
The Halloween vignette is spectacular, but the most fun of all was reading the post along with the perfect pictures to go along with the story. Great fun!
Fantastic Halloween craft ideas! I love the painted butternut squash ghosts and I will be making some too now. Thank you so much for linking up to the Hauntingly Beautiful Decor Halloween Link party! The party goes on all month so feel free to share away. Thanks again!
What a funny story Mary! Looks like the girls are having a ball. I’m glad Mrs. Mummy was able to calm everyone down, but poor My Paranoid man. Maybe Mrs Mummy can get him to come around before Halloween so everyone can enjoy the Halloween party, including him.
You do make me laugh Mary!
I love seeing the little behind the scenes messy action shot too. I type this as I look over the screen at the absolute piles of half done stuff all I have all over our dining room table at the moment!
Halloween is a much bigger thing here in the UK than it used to be but still it’s just a few people who go to town with decorations and parties.
Julie, since becoming a blogger my house in NEVER organized. Right now I have a bunch of cardboard boxes behind the door for a future project which I have no idea what that will be. I also have random things scattered all over the living room that are in various stages of being finished. It never ends!!
Mary this is a funny story, no wonder you had a blast with the girls!! It is a lovely vignette, the kind that makes you think why I didn’t thought about it before.
Mrs Mummy is cute, I need some advice for myself
I wished this year for a descent pumpkin to make something and all I got was 2 of the little Greek ones that you have in these photos! Now I know what to do with them!
Mary, what a funny story, love it!! Your little mummies are too cute and the gourds are a funny addition to the party. Of course paranoid pumpkin man is looking great, hopefully he’ll get over his fears and make some friends at the party. 😉
I think so too Debra. All of the kids are going to dress up, and this is something different for them since they have never celebrated Halloween before. I’m sure they will enjoy this “spooky” aspect of Halloween.
Mary, You are so creative and imaginative! I love your “story” ! I also love white pumpkins which are hard to find around here! They must be abundant in greece! I look foreword to more of your whit and creativity!
Jeannee
Jeannee the pumpkins are painted to look white. We have a hard time finding pumpkins here. But we painted them white with acrylic paint to look like ghosts. I know you’ve got plenty of pumpkins there so go ahead and paint away. I also chose to do this instead of carving because they last longer.
Oh Mary…I had a ball reading this post (and watching your preview video!) You must take pictures of of the party…will the guests wear costumes? I know your daughter and her friends had a ball decorating and will have a blast at the party.
Thanks for giving me a chuckle first thing in the morning.
Hugs, Lynn
Lynn, I am really coming into Halloween. After having been deprived for 20 years I am enjoying myself immensely. It is a whole different vibe from the Carnival.
What a fun, spooky display! I never knew that Halloween was non-existent in Greece. As always, I love reading/learning something new from your posts. And you always have a fun and clever way of ‘weaving a good tale’ in there, too!
Jelica maybe I can start a new trend here. Since we are having a party it will give the kids a chance to dress up and have fun where otherwise they would have to wait until the Carnival. Also now they get to be spooky, it’s a different type of dress up.
Lol Mary it looks like you ladies had so much fun, thank goodness Mrs Mummy was there to calm everyone down. Hopefully she’ll be able to weave her magic and get poor paranoid pumpkin to feel a bit better about himself too. He looks so wickedly awesome in his new hat btw 😉
Michelle we had the best time. At one point they took Gourd man and had him pose in dark areas of the house… haha And Mr PMan thanks you for the compliment.
Aw so much fun Mary! I love how your daughter and her friend helped with all of this and these ghosts and mummies are absolutely awesome!! So easy too, my girls would love to make some as well! And I love paranoid man’s new witch hat!!
Katrin I think I am going thru my second childhood. We had sooooo much fun, and we are still decorating. I know your girls would have fun with this too. And all the projects are so easy that I didn’t even bother to show the tutorials. Paranoid Man thanks you.
Great story, Mary, so funny! 🙂
My favorites are wallnut eyes, I have never seen ones like that!
We also celebrate Karnival instead of Halloween, but lately Halloween is getting popular here, as well. I expecially like having a chance to dress up TWICE in one year 🙂
Your painted pumpkins and the mummies are so cute, Mary! The paranoid man looks really concerned that someone might be after him. What a fun Halloween decoration!
Have a great week!
This is so cute. Love the paranoid pumpkin man. You daughter and her friend must have had a great time. It’s nice that you can still keep Halloween alive even if it is not a thing where you live.
Melissa my youngest is obsessed with Halloween and thanks to the internet she knows all about it. She’s seen all the Tim Burton movies and even makes her own animated shorts so I felt I owed it to her to do something special this year.
Mary, I don’t know which one of these characters I like more. Love the facial expressions on the gourds and the googly eyes on the mummy, and those ruby red lips! So cool.
The walnuts were a great choice for the eyeballs! The grooves in the shell make the eyeball look so real. And a whole basket of them? Love it.
Good thing the paranoid pumpkin backed down, he is outnumbered! LOL
That poor pumpkin is really in over his head with all these characters. They certainly are going to gang up on him if he doesn’t change his sour attitude… and soon, Halloween is almost here.
The mummies, the ghosts, the eye balls – all are fabulous! Life has been super hectic lately, but I pinned your post and hope I’ll make the time to make at least some of them before Halloween….
There is still no Halloween in Greece? I was really surprised a few years ago when I realized that Halloween has turned into quite a big holiday in Germany with decorations, trick or treating, etc.
Andrea Andrea’s Wellness Notes
Andrea these are so easy of course you can make a few all you need is some gourds or a pumpkin and a marker.
Nothing in Greece. Only the carnival in February which is a whole nother beast.
Mary, (and company), what a creative time you had making all these wonderful characters for Halloween! I’m glad they’re not too scary but rather sweet! I love the gourds – they are too cute!
Happy Tuesday,
Poppy
I loved looking at the pictures Mary. Looks like you had a ball with the girls. Fun times making lots of not so spooky memories! Ha! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Cindy I am really enjoying all the preparations for Halloween, maybe a little too much!
This was so much fun and I love the expressions on the mummies and gourds. Thanks for the behind the scenes look. I don’t think I have the nerve to show my kitchen after a baking session. Thank you for sharing with us this week at Celebrate Your Story and we hope you will join us again next week.
Thanks so much Sandra. It was a blast!
Mary, I know my kids will love doing these! So creative.
That’s what Halloween is all about!
These are so adorable! I love the mummy can.
We had so much fun making them!
Super cute! It might even be cute enough that it won’t scare my two-year-old. Thanks so much for sharing at the #happynowlinkup!
I think they are not scary. They are just too adorable.
The Halloween vignette is spectacular, but the most fun of all was reading the post along with the perfect pictures to go along with the story. Great fun!
Thank you so much Laurie. I had a lot of fun doing these. Sometimes you just need to let your hair down!
Those are adorable!! I love the idea of using squash. Pinning this to try. 🙂
It was so fun and easy to make.
Mary, This is adorable! Talk about being creative and a story teller! The gourds are really adorable. 🙂
Carol the gourds were made by the girls and they have thier own special charm.
I love everything about this post it was absolutely delightful! Thank you for sharing with us this week at Celebrate Your Story, have a great week.
Thank you Sandra!
Mary, I loved reading your Halloween story … it gave me a goof chuckle on a Monday! You never cease to amaze me xo

Wow, how fabulous are these. I love them all, and plans to add to my fall decor. Lot of great creativity shown here in this post. Thanks for sharing.
I love the idea! Especially with the cans. I did it too in the past and will again. The mummy look is also funny with a black bottle. This is how I did it (my FB page post https://www.facebook.com/mariamscreationsrac/photos/a.1075913999194121/1075914009194120/?type=3&theater).

I love the peeking eyes theme you have going on here, it’s so fun and whimsical!
This was a fun project, especially with the girls helping out.
Paranoid man is a bit scary. He had me shaking in my boots! Loved the story!! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
hugs,
Jann
What a funny story Mary! Looks like the girls are having a ball. I’m glad Mrs. Mummy was able to calm everyone down, but poor My Paranoid man. Maybe Mrs Mummy can get him to come around before Halloween so everyone can enjoy the Halloween party, including him.
I certainly hope so, we don’t want him to be sad!
What a fun Halloween idea. I love the vignette. I am off to check the other challengers.
We had so much fun with this one.
You do make me laugh Mary!

Mrs Mummy is cute, I need some advice for myself
I had so much fun doing this with them that I wonder why we didn’t do it years ago? Time to make it an annual tradition!
Great pic of the girls! I think the decorations turned out wonderful. The eyeballs were very creative.
We are having so much fun with this, I go to bed and wake up the next morning with ideas.
I wished this year for a descent pumpkin to make something and all I got was 2 of the little Greek ones that you have in these photos! Now I know what to do with them!
I got those two from Lidl of all places. And Paranoid man came from the Laiki. I think if you look a bit you will find something. Good luck!
Mary, what a funny story, love it!! Your little mummies are too cute and the gourds are a funny addition to the party. Of course paranoid pumpkin man is looking great, hopefully he’ll get over his fears and make some friends at the party. 😉
I hope so too Keri. He is really suffering here. He needs to get over his anti-social behavior!
The Halloween decorations are fantastic. Not too scary but enough to be fun. The party is sure to be a hit.

They were easy to make Ana, just paint them white with acrylic paint and then paint the colors using acrylic also.
The painted gourds are fabulous! I want…
I got lucky with the girls help and drawing skills.
Really cute decorations.
Your painted pumpkins and the mummies are so cute, Mary! The paranoid man looks really concerned that someone might be after him. What a fun Halloween decoration!
Have a great week!
He is very anti-social Julia and doesn’t want others in his space. But what can he do, we are throwing a Halloween party at the end of the week.
Such fun, I particularly love the gourd ghosts – they’re adorable 🙂

Poppy I haven’t celebrated Halloween in twenty years so now I am going to go all out! Yes the gourds are adorable even if one is a bit grumpy.
What cute, fun and lovely Halloween decoration. I don’t know which one i love the most. I love them all. Ok, the guy sporting the hat…
That grumpy guy sporting the hat has won my heart Ivory!
The evil eyed gourd is hysterical. She captures the “Mom” look that took me years to perfect. To think of it what is more scary lol
Haha Leanna that is so funny!
Mary, you are a hoot! A fun storyteller! Glad “the club” decided to have this early, so we can enjoy all the Halloween projects.
Florence I haven’t done Halloween in twenty years so I am really going to enjoy it this year.
You are so funny Mary, LOL. What a fun Halloween Vignette, and a fun not so spooky story. Love the Paranoid Man’s witch hat, and your humor.
Halloween is coming Linda and they must have put some kooky spell in my coffee.
