Coffee with Tealights, Please
What is this blog all about? Aside from photography of course. Yes it is all…
Yes I will make a quick coffee with tealights craft.
Because who doesn’t love the smell of coffee permeating the house?
There must be at least 10 boxes of tea in there. I’m glad that he is a tea drinker. But what you don’t see is the number of bags of coffee that were in there before I tidied up (I wasn’t going to show you that picture, I care too much about all of you). There must have been at least 6 bags full of ground coffee. They were from Fairway and I am in the process of enjoying all their delightful flavors, but there was also one bag that had a surprise. Yes it had coffee beans.
My son no longer drinks coffee and I already had plenty of bags to consume while visiting. After all I don’t want to end up with frazzled nerves. My son’s friend, who was visiting, persuaded me to repurpose the beans, it would have been a shame to just throw them out.
My friend Debbie of Debbie Doo’s had made a cute burlap art work with coffee beans. This was adorable, unfortunately it was above my skill set! And so I went looking around the house and this is what I found:
This is a Droppar container from Ikea. It comes with a lid but what I like about it is the band of frosted glass it has in the middle.
I think this was a much better way to repurpose those coffee beans.
The house smells like coffee!

I am so happy with how this quick Coffee with Tealights project turned out. Would you ever try something like this or have you in the past?

Hello Mary,
I’m going to try this right away. We’ve got plenty of coffee beans in the house and my husband won’t notice any missing.
Thank you for sharing,
Marjan
P.S.: Saw your son likes Earl Grey – so do I!
You are so funny! My son wouldn’t have noticed they were missing either except for the fact that they are on the table now. That boy really loves his tea.
Well Mary it couldn’t be any cuter and simple than that. You most certainly have the skill set btw😃 You just didn’t try it.
Thank you so much Debbie. I will most definitely have to give stencils a try!
Thanks Mary!!! I found an old container of coffee beans and was wondering how to incorporate with candles…never thought about just topping off the tea light with some–brilliant!!! I can smell the wonderful aroma now!!! 🙂
Michelle it is two days later and the smell is all around me even though I haven’t let them again. It was a big hit.
Your imagination is the key to this splendid repurpose! I would never have thought of it, but the idea is brilliant. I love coffee and to smell it is enticing to me. I know the beans are already roasted, but was wondering if they would burn in the tealights? I suppose that the melted wax would prevent this from happening. The little Droppar container from Ikea is lovely resting in that white tray, the perfect combination with the tealights and coffee beans. Hope you are enjoying your visit here, but don’t work to hard- relax and take lots of pictures! Thank-you for this wonderful post.
I waited to burn the tealights before answering you. You are absolutely right. The wax burned off and all that was left was the dried beans. No explosions of any kind. But while the beans were inside the melted wax the scent was incredible. I am having a great time but I’ve also got to feed this here blog. I should be able to get some fun pics next week when I go into the city.
I can smell those coffee beans I do believe!
Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Two days later and still going strong.
While I’ve never been a coffee drinker, I’ve always loved the smell of cofffee. This is a great way to get that ‘Starbucks’ smell throughout your home anytime! Thanks for the suggestions.
Are you back home yet?
Lynn
Lynn I am intoxicated with coffee right now. Still in New York. I’ll be here till the end of the month. When you fly across the pond you had better stay a while because it is a long trip. Soaking up every minute!
Mary you have done it again and with coffee beans, its so simple and beautiful,it looks good enough to eat, from the top I taught it was chocolates.
Haha. We can add chocolates to the mix. Then I certainly won’t be able to concentrate with all those great scents floating through the room.
That’s something! I was thinking to make some candles because I have a lot of broken candles through th house, then I saw the picture with this project in my feed on Facebook! Are you reading my mind? :)))
Enjoy your staying in NY! It’s a great city that has a lot to show!
Gabi that will be a great idea. I also save broken candles. I hope you post soon so I can see what you are doing with them.
A great city indeed. I lived here for 30 years before moving to Greece.
Off to buy coffee beans!! I love the idea Mary, how pretty and the smell of coffee in the house is just the best! I love how you are creative & frugal in your sons apartment, lol can’t wait to see more!! Enjoy!
Katrin this one is for you, my coffee loving friend. I am having a great time re-doing his apartment. I always come and redo it and drive him crazy.
I had a coffee themed kitchen several years ago and I did something similar using small mason jars and tealights.
I loved the aroma they provided.
It is intoxicating Lisa! I am drunk on coffee. 😉
Well I am a coffee drinker but use ground coffee. Now you have me rethinking things. How delicious to have the aroma of coffee and a pretty vignette to enjoy. Great job.
We do too Debra always ground coffee. I was really surprised when I opened the bag and found the beans. I guess my son forgot to get them ground. No problem! It was a gain for me.
This is a fun and simple way to use those coffee beans. It must smell wonderful! 🙂
Brooke I am in coffee heaven right now! 😉
Well, now isn’t this unique!! Thanks so much for stopping by!!
Hugs,
Deb
Thank you Debbie. I just love that smell.
Oh I love these Mary, they always smell so heavenly and look great as a centerpiece too. Have you tried adding vanilla pods or some essence to the coffee beans?
Now there’s an idea Michelle. I’ll have to look around to see what is stashed away in this house.
what a great idea! I don’t drink coffee, but I love the smell of coffee in the house!
I do too, and this was such an easy way for me to use up those beans. Thanks for stopping by!
I agree. The smell of coffee is divine, and what a wonderfully practical way to achieve that!
Debbie has some cool project ideas, and she’s a sweetheart.
Hope you’re enjoying your stay in NY!

Doreen it came out of my desperation for an easy project. I’m in the middle of painting furniture so I needed something easy to upload. They say necessity is the mother of invention.
Every time i open the coffee jar i spend a few seconds enjoying the smell, especially when it is freshly ground. I am sure this will smell heavenly! I’d better go make myself another cup of coffee!
And Greek coffee smells even better! 😉
What a fabulous idea, Mary!!
It’s so interesting what kind of ideas we can come up with when we need to!!
Now the question is, did your son love it?

Jodie he complains every time I visit because I redo his apartment all over again. I reorganize everything and he cannot find his stuff. But ultimately he has a satisfied smile on his face. 🙂
Mary, I love this coffee candle idea!! I really like the blue twilight’s you added, it gives it a pop of color. I definitely want to try this. Of course I just love the smell of coffee so I can just imagine this lovely aroma permeating every room using a candle, oh yum!
Keri this was the easiest project I’ve ever done. I think it took longer to photograph it than to make it. Lovin’ that coffee smell.
Hi Mary! You had me at coffee :). What a great simple idea to mix tealights with coffee beans and I bet your home smells so good. Have a good week!
Thanks Tara. It was so simple and it had the added benefit of the coffee smell.
