Many of you may be seeing a lot of Christmas posts out there, but being that I am a confirmed Autumn Lover I’m not ready to let go of fall just yet.  During one of my recent walks around the neighborhood I picked up these pretty leaves you see below.

I just couldn’t see not bringing them home to hold onto their warm colors.  And hold onto them I did with this how to easily add fall in your home project!

We have a lot of stuff in our new house because it’s really an old house. My older kids have been here for years and it was once my home before we moved to Greece.  So naturally we have plenty of stuff.  I didn’t just move into a new to us home.  One of my recent finds when we got here, were some simple black frames.   I decided I’d work with these for this super simple project.

What I Used:

  • Pretty fall leaves picked up from nature
  • A few black picture frames
  • paper that is used for packing or as it is also called newsprint

The How To:

I spread the paper along the back of the frames.  And then placed the leaves in front.  Then slid the whole thing inside the frames. You can see that the paper is wrinkled.  This suits me just fine because I love that imperfect look which gives the project loads of texture.

It does not get any easier!

You’ll have to excuse the glare but this is how you know that there is actual glass there.  I am just keeping it real.  It wouldn’t work if I was to take the glass off.

I honestly don’t know how long they will last … after all winter is coming!  And the frames will be changed out for Christmas decor so it is not a problem.

I love the contrast between the black and white and that intense color of the leaves. Doesn’t it look like art?

I told you it was easy!  They will look great in my home as we celebrate Thanksgiving together.  I hope you are all getting ready for Turkey day.  If you need anything I have added links above to help you buy that big roasting pan..

May we hold onto Autumn for as long as it lasts and savor ever moment with this how to easily add fall to your home project.

Are you cooking a turkey this year?  Pumpkin pie?  I am going all out!!

Oh I miss those colored leaves! They look so beautiful and of course you would want to take them home to enjoy! They look pretty in the frames Mary and dry at the same time for you to enjoy much longer!

Those leaf colors are amazing Mary. No wonder you love Fall so much. Our trees never change their colors quite like that. It’s almost like green today, brown tomorrow. LOL. I do love how you used what Mother Nature gave so freely to create beautiful works of art

Michelle that is how I felt about the leaves in Greece .. brown. Which is not like these colors here. These leaves are so vibrant. They look as if they have been photo-shopped but the truth is I do not touch the color at all.

Years ago Target sold something just like this and I bought it for my home. Eventually it broke but I never thought to do this myself. I love leaves in the fall so I really should scoop some up out of my yard and make this.

Florence I have not been taking the camera out that much. The other day we went into Manhattan with the camera and the kids were scolding me because I kept on stopping every few yards to snap a photo. Hah!!

This is so lovely. I love the colors of fall. I am not ready to let go either. I don’t have the beautiful fall leaves but this can be done with silk ones so I can get the same look. Thanks for sharing.

Gorgeous! I’m a huge nature lover and fall is my favorite time of year. It’s been an odd fall this year in PA with the crazy weather but we usually have great fall color.
I’ll have to try this craft next year. Thanks!

Debbie I have them on display now but the Christmas items are muscling their way in very soon. I’ll hide them away and check back in a month so see how they stand up. Either way they are only for now. As you can imagine Christmas is very big in my house, only because I make things for the bog so I get very excited. 🙂
