A Backgammon Tray - Ένας Δίσκος Τάβλι

Don’t we all have some old drawers lying around? I had found a few of them in my basement. You must be tired of hearing that from me, but it really is an endless treasure cave down there. The first one was used to make a table. The second was used as under the bed storage. And now we come to the third one.

Δεν έχουμε όλοι κάποια παλιά συρτάρια που βρίσκονται τριγύρω; Είχα βρει μερικά στο υπόγειό μου. Το πρώτο χρησιμοποιήθηκε για την κατασκευή ενός τραπεζιού. Το δεύτερο χρησιμοποιήθηκε ως κάτω από το κρεβάτι αποθήκευσης. Και τώρα ερχόμαστε στο τρίτο.

I decided to paint the inside using Chalk Paint and take it from there.

Now I had done this before when making the table that consisted of a www.theboondocksblog.com/home/pieces-of-a-table drawer paired with a stool. Originally the hubby had wanted me to use a backgammon design, but I nixed it as too complicated. This time around I decided to make him happy and so I tried a simplified version of a backgammon design. I cut out some triangles and went for it.
Το είχα ξανακάνει όταν έφτιαξα ένα τραπεζάκι από ένα συρτάρι σε συνδυασμό με ένα σκαμνί. Αρχικά, ο σύζυγος μου ήθελε να το κάνω με ένα σχέδιο τάβλι, αλλά το απέρριψα ως υπερβολικά πολύπλοκο. Αυτή τη φορά αποφάσισα να τον κάνω χαρούμενο και έτσι δοκίμασα μια απλοποιημένη εκδοχή ενός σχεδίου τάβλι.

After I finished the design I added some of my homemade beeswax. The wood was very thirsty.
Αφού τελείωσα το σχεδιασμό πρόσθεσα λίγο από το σπιτικό μου κερί μέλισσας. Το ξύλο ήταν πολύ διψασμένο.

Originally, I had wanted to attach it to the base of a Director’s chair that was being repurposed but it was not a good fit (please excuse the horrible photo.) Anyway, I found a better solution for that base when I repurposed it into the showcase table.

Αρχικά, ήθελα να το συνδέσω στη βάση μιας καρέκλας, αλλά δεν ήταν μια καλή εφαρμογή (συγχωρέστε μου την εφιαλτική φωτογραφία.) Τέλος πάντων βρήκα μια καλύτερη λύση για τη συγκεκριμένη βάση όταν τη χρησιμοποιησα στο τραπέζι βιτρίνα.

For now I am using it as a tray.

Well, I do believe I am getting quite good at all this drawer repurposing, I really like this backgammon tray. I wonder if I have any more drawers? Visit me next time to see how I’m using this tray for Fall decorating.

Ειλικρινα Μαίρη ειναι πανεμορφο! Θα το ηθελα πολυ στο σπίτι μου αλλα σιγουρα δεν μπορω να το φτιάξω :) Δεν θυμίζει τελειως ταβλι και νομιζω αυτο ειναι καλυτερο!

Ευχαριστω πολυ Ντινα. Είναι εύκολο απλός ας την φαντασία σου να σε καθοδηγήσει. Το σχέδιο για τάβλι ειναι περίπλοκο και έτσι έκανα την απλή εκδοχή.

I said it before and I say it again: I wanna peek into that basement of yours!!! So bad!!! This is a lovely idea, I love the colours you choose and the design too! Trays are always a good idea you can use them for so many things,...well, as trays... centerpieces...etc.. Love it!!!

Thanks Cecilia, I love to see the look of satisfaction on his face when a project is done. When I first started this blog he was kind of skeptical but now I've got him involved and we have a great time together. He is my partner in crime. :)
