The stars and moon in a frame – Τα Άστρα και το Φεγγάρι

Sharing is caring!

As some of you may know, I along with one of my daughters have been a Beatles’ fan for years now.  We love them so much we even decorated her room with lots of posters and Beatle art, such as this blue frame. After a while it got neglected and  hidden away somewhere.  But the other day I spotted it and took it out.  It was in need of a makeover and fast. Little did I know that it would take the stars and the moon to bring this mess around.

My daughter saw this old frame and hijacked it  immediately… “Mom I am sooo over the Beatles!”  She pulled them out of there and painted that blue into white using chalk paint.

She then added a bunch of colored glass in pretty shapes to give it a bit of blingy shine!

Now you may know that my daughter is also a painter and this year has been “the year of the galaxy”.  She did a larger painting that you can see here and a video here.

She inserted this canvas into the picture frame and secured it from the back… and there you have it!  The stars and moon in all its’ glory!

It turned out so well that she gave it to a friend as a gift!  Who wouldn’t want the stars and the moon in a frame as a gift? What do you do with your old picture frames?

Το αποτέλεσμα ηταν τόσο κάλο, και το έδωσε ως δώρο! Ποιος δεν θα ήθελε τα άστρα και το φεγγάρι ως δώρο;Τι κάνετε με τις παλιές σας κορνίζες;

That’s a great idea Marilyn. Maybe I should have kept the Beatles after all and put them on the other side.

  2. I absolutely love this! It turned out so cool! 🙂

What a great idea to repurpose but also so sweet to give as a gift.

Hi Mary — What a creative makeover! Your daughter has great talent. Love the galaxy painting with the texture and pop of bright colors. Very talented family! Thanks for linking up with us at Funtastic Friday, hope to see you back next week too.

  6. I loooove The Beatles, too, and am a great fan of John Lennon’s later work, as well. Both of pictures frames are lovely, no doubt 🙂
many regards from sunny Adriatic, Croatia

    • Mary says:

Yes, we managed to cover all of the Beatles work, early and late and had lots of bonding moments with my girls over them. They have a special place in our hearts. Thank you for stopping in.

  7. Life Loving says:

You’re obviously rubbing off on your daughter Mary! I love to reuse old frames. I made one into a blackboard for my desk. It’s really good for my to do list.

    • Mary says:

Sally it may actually be the other way ar o und. We knew she was artistic from a very young age, and I just encouraged her. Your idea is excellent for a blackboard.

  8. Wow I am so happy to see another craft by your girl! She so talented and creative!

    • Mary says:

Thanks Katerina. Do you think I should share my blog with her? She has her own website but never posts anything on it. lol It all ends up on mine. In all fairness, she posts on Youtube. Actually that’s where she lives…

  9. Ilka says:

Love the pic. Your daughter captured the Moon and the surrounding stars beautifully:):)

    • Mary says:

An artist in the making Ilka. But being the hipster that she is she will never admit it. 😉

  10. Laurie says:

Mary, Your daughter has some wonderful talent there! Love the stars and moon and the bling frame! Thanks for sharing with us at Brag About It! Pinned and tweeted 🙂

    • Mary says:

Thank you Laurie, this one was her idea, I just gave her the frame. At least she’s learning all about re-purposing.

  11. Jess says:

This is so pretty, I love the texture of the moon!

  14. Celeste says:

This is beautiful, Mary! Your daughter does such great work, and she’s so creative! Wonder where she gets that from? 😉

  15. Uwe says:

    Looks great, Mary!
    many greetings
    Uwe

  16. Krista says:

It turned out really nice. Like mother, like daughter. So what did you do with the Beatles?

    • Mary says:

Krista, she doesn’t need so much stuff in her room She already has more than a few giant posters and now she is into another group… oh no more posters on the way! I’ll hide the Bealtes!

  17. Katrin says:

I love the Beatles as well Mary! Your daughter is a true artist, she turned that blue frame into something really special. All the colours and tones really go so well together and to give this as a present is a wonderful idea!

    • Mary says:

And this time Katrin mom did not have to see red or black or any other color. She did it by herself and on time. I just gave her the frame. Oh how they learn!

  18. Lynn Spencer says:

Mary, it would appear that the crafting gene runs strong in your family! I love that you two ‘craft together’. Her galaxy series is so cool…I hope she stays with painting, she clearly has some natural talent and inclination.
And I love the Beatles too…’Hey Jude’ is my all time favorite song…ever, from anyone. Just another one of our common qualities.
    Wishing you a lovely Thursday.
    Hugs , Lynn

    • Mary says:

I believe she has surpassed me by leaps and bounds Lynn! I was the one who originally got her to listen to the Beatles and when she developed a healthy obsession I went back and started listening to them again. Oh what a pleasure it is to hear childhood songs from an adult perspective.

  19. Keri says:

Mary, your daughter is quite the artist!! That Beatles poster is neat, but I love how she replaced it with something personal and oh so beautiful!! The bling on the frame was a nice accent to her amazing picture!! I can see artistic talent runs in the family!! 🙂

    • Mary says:

Keri I also liked the addition of the bling. It makes it girly and just perfect for the gift that she gave to her female friend.

  20. This is such a beautiful painting and picture. Your daughter is truly talented! Thanks for sharing at Pieced Pastimes 🙂

    • Mary says:

Thank you for your lovely comment. I will let me daughter know that everyone loves her painting.

  21. Eileen says:

Hello, I am visiting from Marci’s blog Stone Cottage. I have been a Beatles fan for a long time now. I do love your stars and moon, lovely piece of artwork. Have a happy weekend!

    • Mary says:

Thank you so much for your sweet words Eileen. I’ll be sure to pass them on to my daughter. Have a great day

  22. Pili says:

After seeing so many projects your daughter has made, there’s no doubt she is truly an artist! Love that picture, it really seems as if you were looking at the sky through a telescope.

    • Mary says:

That she is Pili, and I try to encourage her as much as possible. Her passion though is video making.

  23. You have a very talented daughter. The frame was met for the painting. But will you be bringing the Beatles back?

    • Mary says:

Everyone seems to be worried about the Beatles. Haha! Her room is plastered with posters of the beatles and she’s also made collages so I think we can afford to lose one pictuure.

  24. Kathryn says:

Those poor Beatles. They totally got trumped. I like the texture your daughter added to her painting. What a thoughtful gift.

    • Mary says:

Kathryn I always encourage them to give home made gifts, even if it means trumping the Beatles. She also has a ton of Beatle T- shirts that she is always wearing, so they ought to be happy with that.

  25. Mary your stars and moon turned out lovely! As much as I love the Beatles, I love the frame this way so much better. I really like how you added the bling to the frame. Nice makeover!

    • Mary says:

Linda I love the Beatles too but Paul will eventually have to retire. She did a good job with it and especially with the addition of the bling.

  26. Becky says:

Mary ~~ I too, am a Beatles fan, (I saw them 2 times in 1964 & 1965) in California! I loved how the blue frame looked with their print in it too ~~ But your daughter’s unique creativity to re-purpose & spark the frame up was very cute! Very simple but cool! ~~ her choice of colors for the nite sky was fun too! I love it!

    • Mary says:

We are all Beatles fan, you are luckier than most to have seen them! My girl may act like she’s over them but she still loves Paul! Thank you for your sweet comment Becky.
