A Nest for My Rustic Eggs – Μια Φωλιά για τα Χωριάτικα  Αυγά

Sharing is caring!

Spring is in the air and Easter is … well, for some of us Easter is almost here.  As for me, Easter will have to wait a bit longer,  specifically the first of May. You can read more about my Easter here.   But that doesn’t mean we can’t decorate our homes in preparation for the holiday.  Today I’m going to show you an easy nest for my rustic eggs  that I’ve made using things from the house and farm.

I’m teaming  up with 8 very talented ladies in the Hoppy Easter blog hop and you can also add your Easter creations below.

The nest started out as a homely wreath. It looked like this …

… till about a year ago whenI transformed it to this with some white paint and a cool hedgehog ribbon.

I used a small glass dessert plate.

The wreath was re-painted white after being freed from the hedgehogs.  It was placed on top of the plate.

I placed some velvet fabric, a left over from a dress (you knew that was coming), inside the wreath.  We’ll pretend that this is the grass inside the nest!

Now for the eggs.  I am pretty much a traditonalist when it comes to eggs, but this year I felt like red would not be the right color for this particular nest.  I bought home these beauties from the farm in all their brown glory and decided I really liked their natural color. So instead of dyeing them, I just added white chalk paint in various shapes and designs – nothing fancy.  And I finished them off with a marker.

I really love the contrast of the white against the natural brown of the eggs.

You can see that the paint on the  wreath also adds lots of rustic goodness.

To be honest I don’t think these lovelies will last till Easter so I may be back next month with some more eggs. Let’s hope my chicken is working hard.

And with that my nest for my rustic eggs is complete.   Nothing fancy and all things you can find at home.  Happy Easter everyone!!

Thanks so much Debra. Now at some point I'll have to make some more eggs because I don't think these will survive till May.

I really like how the eggs turned out. They look awesome! I really have to get some chalk paint. But...I am wondering if you hard boiled them first? I am just curious. You have a chicken?!!

Thanks Krista. I have one chicken at the farm and she lays her eggs wherever she pleases. A diva! I did hard boil them but I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to eat them. I celebrate Easter May 1st so I'll be making another batch till then. These are for display purposes only..lol

What a great idea to paint your natural eggs! Love the contrast of white and brown for a nice new easterly look!!!

That's exatly what prompted me to paint them Gail, the contrast of the white against the brown. A new look for me because I usually go with red.

My eggs last year were a complete blue disaster so I don't have a link to be proud of! This year I guess with all this inspiration I'll do a better job!

As long as we don't eat them we can experiment to our hearts content. This is the first year I'm stepping away from the traditional red. I s hould have a label that says "for blogging purposes only" lol
