The other day while in the basement I found a few of these pieces of wood. They are very thin. I've an affinity for Chalkboard and I wanted an easy project and I thought I could turn them into easy Chalkboard signs for the holidays.
Because let's be honest I am procrastinating when it comes to putting up that tree. It seems that Christmas decor is so much more than just the tree. A few signs here and there will add a fun element to the holiday decor.
Now, I've done this before with bottle labels that I used for Halloween.
I simply painted them with black chalkboard paint. Two coats was enough to cover them.
I then opened holes in the corners with a knife and screw... don't ask. You can use a drill, I'll stick to my archaic methods.
I wanted to cure the boards so I covered them with white chalk and let them sit overnight.
The next day I wiped the excess chalk off and I was ready to use them. It is that simple. In fact so simple that I even painted a wall this way.
I don't think that I've ever shown you my box of chalk. Thank goodness for kids that abandon their art supplies.
And I made two super easy Fall signs. Even Paranoid Man approves.
Of course, they don't have to be Fall signs, they can be for any season or any holiday! Just erase and use the chalk to write something else.
Remember that tube wreath I made a few weeks ago? I was able to easily transform it into a Christmas wreath.
I just added burlap ribbon...
And one of those signs which I cut up into two pieces.
And I made another sign for Christmas. Because when they are that easy, well how can I stop myself?
These signs were super easy to make. They can be hung up or just added leaning against the wall. And the best part, they are easy to change out. I am sure you'll be seeing these easy Chalkboard signs around my house as we near the holidays.
Now tell me what do you think of that tube wreath transformation?
