This next post has a special place in my heart. It is a gift for a special friend of my daughters.

In the past, whenever I had come across a cute t-shirt or top that I didn’t want to get rid of, I simply re-purposed it into a pillow. Here is an example of a few that I had made in the past.
Στο παρελθόν, κάθε φορά που είχα κάποιο χαριτωμένο t-shirt ή μπλούζα που δεν ήθελα να ξεφορτωθώ, απλά το αναδιαμόρφωνα σε ένα μαξιλάρι. Εδώ είναι ένα παράδειγμα από αυτά που είχα κάνει στο παρελθόν.
My daughter had an old sweat shirt that she did not want to wear any more. But it was still in very good condition, and I was reluctant to throw it out or even give it to the goodwill.Naturally, I decided to make the sweatshirt into a pillow. But my daughter asked that I make it as a gift to her best friend who has been by her side for over 5 years. This way when they are older and far away, the miles will not matter as she will always have something of my daughters’ to remember her of their friendship.
Η κόρη μου είχε ένα φούτερ που δεν φορούσε πια. Αλλά ήταν σε πολύ καλή κατάσταση, και δίσταζα να το πετάξω.Φυσικά, αποφάσισα να μετατρέψω το φούτερ σε ένα μαξιλάρι. Αλλά η κόρη μου ζήτησε να το κάνω ως δώρο στην καλύτερη φίλη της, η οποία ήταν στο πλευρό της, για πάνω από 5 χρόνια. Με αυτό τον τρόπο όταν μεγαλώσουν και είναι πολύ μακριά, τα μίλια δεν θα έχουν σημασία διότι θα έχει πάντα κάτι της κόρης μου να θυμάται τη φιλία τους.
I made a light outline of the size of the pillow I wanted in pencil and then set about folding the sweat shirt in such a way that the sleeves would be inside. Then I proceeded to do a cross stitch.I did this on both sides. And stitched the sleeves inside. This way the sleeves would be used as filling.
Έκανα ένα ελαφρύ περίγραμμα του μεγέθους του μαξιλαριού που ήθελα με μολύβι και στη συνέχεια, δίπλωσα το φούτερ με τέτοιο τρόπο ώστε τα μανίκια να είναι μέσα. Στη συνέχεια, προχώρησα με σταυρό βελονιά και στις δύο πλευρές. Έραψα τα μανίκια μέσα. Με αυτό τον τρόπο τα μανίκια θα χρησιμοποιηθούν ως γέμιση.
I tucked in the hood and folded it in to the desired size, as per my outline.
Έσπρωξα
μέσα την κουκούλα και το δίπλωσα στο επιθυμητό μέγεθος, σύμφωνα με την περιγραφή.
I then cross stitched the top. I added some stuffing and closed up the bottom in the same manner.
Στη συνέχεια έραψα με σταυροβελονιά την κορυφή. Πρόσθεσα γέμιση και έκλεισα το κάτω μέρος με τον ίδιο τρόπο.
Because the bottom looked a little bare, I added some buttons for decoration.
Επειδή το κάτω μέρος φαινόταν λίγο γυμνό, προσθέσα μερικά κουμπιά για διακόσμηση.
As a bonus I left the hand opening untouched, that way it can still be used to tuck special items into it.
Ως μπόνους άφησα το χέρι ανέγγιχτο, με αυτόν τον τρόπο μπορεί να είναι τσέπη.
And that was it. A special pillow re-purposed from an article of clothing, with special meaning.
Και αυτό ήταν. Ένα ειδικό μαξιλάρι αναδιαμορφωμένο από ένα ρούχο, με ιδιαίτερη σημασία.
It has been a privilege for me to do this project, for such a very special girl. I hope my daughter’s friend enjoys this pillow as much as I enjoyed making it for her.
Ήταν ένα προνόμιο για μένα να κάνω αυτό το έργο, για ένα τέτοιο πολύ ιδιαίτερο κορίτσι. Ελπίζω η φίλη της κόρης μου να απολαμβάνει αυτό το μαξιλάρι όσο απολάμβανα εγώ που της το έφτιαξα.

Mary, that pillow is ADORABLE! And adding the buttons was a brilliant addition. I love how this is a gift for a friend and the idea of her having a wee bit of your daughter where ever she goes. You two have really established a wonderful tradition of gifting from the heart...your gifts to your friends and family have a real, personal meaning. Thanks for sharing this great gift project.
