How to Repurpose Cans instead of being Overrun by them – Πώς Μπορείτε να Επαναπροσδιορίσετε τα Δοχεία

Sharing is caring!

I am such a fool for repurposing.  I can’t seem to throw anything out.  I save paper rolls and turn them into hearts, I keep old clothing and use them to recover chairs.  And now I have amassed a collection of tin cans, such as this one.  I have to start repurposing them otherwise I am in danger of being overrun by them.

I started off painting the tin with DecoArt Chalky Finish paint in Enchanted, which is a warm olive tone. I left it as a matte finish because I liked the rugged look of it.

I then used this brass finish from DecoArt Metallic Lustre to add a border to the tin on the top and bottom.   It dried right away and left me with a rugged look. (You can buy these products from my Amazon Affiliate link below).

Now this tin had originally held coffee so it was pretty big, about 6 inches across.  I wanted to place branches in there but also wanted them to stay up instead of falling over.  Here is my simple solution. By placing these smaller tin cans inside I created four compartments.

I then used my burlap ribbon … you can see I’m getting lots of mileage out of this ribbon. I had also used it for my crafty bottom

The last step was the addition of these fabric flowers.  I  shopped the house for them. You never know what you’ll find when you go looking.

At the farm the other day I cut off a few branches of pomegranate and brought them home with me.

The smaller cans on the inside really help to balance out the branches.

I am always going on about “the power of paint” and this is no exception. It was an easy project with major impact. And now I have shown you how to repurpose those cans instead of being overrun by them. I have  a few less tins taking up space but a  pretty vase.  Do you save your cans and reuse them?  Or do you just toss them in the recycle bin?

Αυτό ήταν ένα εύκολο έργο με σημαντικές επιπτώσεις. Έτσι σας έδειξα πώς να επαναπροσδιορίσετε τα δοχεία αντί να κατακλυστείτε  από αυτά. Έχω λιγότερο δοχεία, αλλά ένα όμορφο βάζο.  Μήπως αποθηκεύετε τα δοχεία σας και τα ξανά χρησιμοποιείτε; Ή μήπως απλά τα πετάτε στον κάδο ανακύκλωσης;

Thanks for the great idea. Came at a great time. I was just wondering where to put wild daises we picked yesterday.

I am embarrassed to admit to you that I just toss mine in the recycle bin. Sigh.... But yours came out lovely. I really think you have enough material to write a book on repurposing...it would be inspirational. Or a book on the power of paint! No kidding.

Krista I used to do the same in PB (that would be pre-blogger) days. Now I can't seem to throw anything out. And thanks for the compliment... I would probably get lazy and just post pictures in the book...lol. I've got plenty of those.

Thanks so much Florence. It was just taking up space in my cabinet and I didn't want to throw it away. The pomegranates will be ready in time for the New Year.
