Disclosure: I was compensated for doing this post with product. However, all the opinions stated here are my own. I only use products I love and would recommend to my viewers.
Αυτό ήταν ένα εύκολο έργο με σημαντικές επιπτώσεις. Έτσι σας έδειξα πώς να επαναπροσδιορίσετε τα δοχεία αντί να κατακλυστείτε από αυτά. Έχω λιγότερο δοχεία, αλλά ένα όμορφο βάζο. Μήπως αποθηκεύετε τα δοχεία σας και τα ξανά χρησιμοποιείτε; Ή μήπως απλά τα πετάτε στον κάδο ανακύκλωσης;

I love what you did, simple and perfect! Great job!
I love Repurposed cans, and you did a fantastic job on this one Mary! Love the colors, and the burlap with flowers. Makes a very pretty planter. I think the hubby needs to drink more coffee and buy the big can. I need some big cans. Thanks for sharing!
Linda big cans are like a big canvas for us to be able to create on. Get hubby to drink more coffee.
You did a beautiful job with this, Mary. I love using old cans for upcycling projects. Pinned and Tweeted. Thanks for sharing at Snickerdoodle Sunday!
They have such a variety of uses its a shame to throw them out. Thanks Beverly.
That really is a huge transformation. Thanks for posting it on the #SutstainableSunday link up. I will have to remember the idea of putting smaller cans inside a larger one. It really would help in situations such as that!
It really works great and we get to use up more cans, less recycling.
Super cute! I would’ve never thought paint would stick to the cans!
Thanks for linking up to #SustainableSundays!
This is chalk paint, it will stick to anything, just sand it down a bit if you are not sure.
Pretty amazing what can make out of a simple tin can! Great DIY idea!
It’s like it is all dressed up in it’s finery. 🙂
Love the uncommon choice of color(s) and this is one of the prettiest vase/planter I have ever seen.
You also styled it perfectly with those fiery red flowers!
The color reminds me of our olives. Do you remember for the Olympics back in 2004 how we had the national uniforms and they were in this olive tone as well. It was actually an unusual choice because we associate Greece with white and blue. But Olive is also a natural choice for us, if only for all the olive oil we consume…haha. .Thanks for your sweet comment.
I really love the olive color that you picked and it looks great with burlap! What a smart idea to put the smaller ones inside! Great job!
Thank you Katerina. I chose this color because I had a lot of it (lol) and to reflect our Olive oil tradition.
Not only are these beautiful to put around in your own home, but this is a great idea for when you want to bring a plant or flowers as a gift. Often, people bring flowers as a hostess gift, and then the hostess needs to run around on the spot and find a vase and arrange the flowers. This way, just put it down and it is ready to go:) (visiting fro BragAboutIt)
Seana that is so true. We can use them for a long time, over and over again. There is never a good excuse for throwing these things out.
I love this idea of repurposing cans! Thank you for this wonderful inspiration!
Emmi thank you for stopping by to visit. I’m looking at your egplant parmigiana right now, and my mouth is watering.
Beautiful upcycle. I love the burlap, actually I love burlap in anything really. 🙂
Burlap really makes a difference. Thanks Mistie.
Great transformation! I am always looking for ways to reuse my cans and jars. I always encourage recycling things. Thanks for sharing at #HomeMattersParty
Es fantastico reciclar latas, ahora es un bonito macetero para tú planta.

Love how you made these cans so pretty! I just realized that this is not New York but Greece, was eonderign where you got those branches in NYC. LOL
So simple, so effective. You know how much I love a good upcycle!
Mary, Your upcycled cans are beautiful and I especially appreciate the tutorial and photos. I have a big box of cans in the garage all clean and ready for recycling so I think I’ll be well-equipped to try your project. Thanks and Happy Spring!
Cheryl
Adorable! I love how a simple can can be so much more. Your colour choices are so wonderful for spring!
I’ve featured this in this weekend’s DIY Salvaged Junk Projects. Thanks for linking up!
p.s. I’ve emailed you a request.
Thanks Donna, it is always so satisfying to be able to save a can when so many more end up in the landfill.
I love recycling and this can turned out so pretty! Great job! Now I’ve got to go check out the paper rolls into hearts, I must have missed that!
Tania
Yes Tania I’ve had my wacky moments. But I guess that’s how we learn.
Mary, your repurposed coffee tin turned out a treat! I love the colours that you used and how you embellished it! We are featuring your very clever project this week over at #WasteNotWednesday! We can’t wait to see what brilliant repurpose you have come up with this week! 🙂
Thank you Sam for the feature.
Such a beautiful upcycle, Mary. Stunning with pomegranate branches! It’s a show stopping photograph. Thank you for sharing at Homemade and Handcrafted. It’s an honor to feature it this week!
Thank you Robin, it is always a pleasure to visit your blog.
Glass jars, tin cans, bottle caps, and fabric remnants (even though I rarely sew). You just never know when you might need something to create something totally awesome, like your repurposed tin can!
That’s right Audra, all we need is to look around us with a different perspective and almost anything can be used. Thanks for the sweet comment.
Mary, you did another gorgeous upcycle. Most of the tins end at the trash but you gave it a new us. That color is pretty to be used as a vase with the green branches, and burlap plus the flower is a great addition too
Pili, those DecoArt paints have inspired me to paint almost anything. And the burlap looks so cute with that color.
Lovely repurpose! Also I never knew pomegranates were so pretty!
The actual fruit is pretty small right now, they should be ready in the late fall. But the flowers are gorgeous.
The green and gold is just perfect. I can’t believe how much use you’ve gotten out of that ribbon. Tins are one thing I’ll happily discard, because I always worry about sharp edges.
Haha Stella that is the ribbon that keeps on giving. The tins have a plastic top to them so there is no worry for sharp edges but now that you mention it I’ll keep my eyes opened.
Mary this is so beautiful, I’m in love with the pomegranate! And I love to go shopping in my house and using what I find. The best thing! I love the olive green, it’s very pretty and the added touches are perfect! Also, how clever of you to make little compartments inside the big tin! Will have to remember that!
It was a good way to use up some more of my cans Katrin. I still have another ten to use up. Maybe this will be a good opportunity for me to get my brushes and markers organized.
This is so lovely! I have to admit that tin cans end up in the recycling bin at my house without another thought- until now! I’ve never seen a pomegranate plant, how beautiful those flowers are in this upcycled vase. Thank-you for this inspiring post.
Thank you Ellen for visiting and for leaving a comment. I hope I have inspired you to use your recycling bin less and make some crafts. The pomegranate tree flowers now but in the winter is when the fruit is ripe.
I love this! I am going to start saving coffee cans right now! How pretty is this. I love the crackle finish that you got on the can, it does make it look old. And girl, you know how I feel about burlap! The more the merrier! LOL
I am on a mission Nikki, to get everyone to use their recycling bin less! I know it sounds bad, but when you think of all the things you can make… then it is a good thing.
I toss mine into the recycle bin but I’ll be rethinking that now after seeing this! Great upcycle idea and so pretty too. Now I’m totally envious that you have a pomegranate tree. I love pomegrante but they are so expensive here so I wait for special occasions only. When you come to pick up your table and chair set, you can bring a bag of pomegrantes too, please. 😉
Marie the big ones are easily reusable. It’s the smaller ones that present more of a challenge. I’ll be on my way up soon as it’s getting too hot for me here. I’ll also bring you a bag of lemons. 😉
Thank you for sharing your pretty repurposed tin with us at the DIY Sunday Showcase Party, Mary. It was one of my Top 6 favorites shared at the party and will be pinned to our DIY Sunday Showcase Talent Board on Pinterest.
Thanks for the great idea. Came at a great time. I was just wondering where to put wild daises we picked yesterday.
Baba I’m glad I could be of some help. I love picking wild flowers.
I love this idea! Thanks for sharing it!!
Thank you Zenda for stopping by and I hope you will also try it.
I am embarrassed to admit to you that I just toss mine in the recycle bin. Sigh…. But yours came out lovely. I really think you have enough material to write a book on repurposing…it would be inspirational. Or a book on the power of paint! No kidding.
Krista I used to do the same in PB (that would be pre-blogger) days. Now I can’t seem to throw anything out. And thanks for the compliment… I would probably get lazy and just post pictures in the book…lol. I’ve got plenty of those.
I didn’t even know it was an ordinary can till I started reading.Good job on the decorating! Your pomegranate even has a pomegranate on it…had to look twice to see. I love poms when ripe. Pinning
Florence
Thanks so much Florence. It was just taking up space in my cabinet and I didn’t want to throw it away. The pomegranates will be ready in time for the New Year.
I love the transformation. The beautiful arrangement. And especially the lovely deco of can turning a can from trach to beautiful treasure. Thanks for sharing. By the way, thanks to you, I will not react so fast in disposing my cans into the trach so fast.
I am loving it Ivory. I am so happy to have inspired you to not throw away all those cans. I think if we take a second look at just about anything we can usually find another purpose for it. Thanks for the sweet comment.
Can I order these items from Amazon in Greece, Mary? And is the postage outrageous? I’ve only ordered (in our short time there) items from Book Depository in the UK that offers free delivery. I finally found base coat chalk white at a paint store in Kalamata but all the other goodies here seem no where to be found.
Jackie. I believe you can order them from Amazon. But I don’t know about the postage. I have actually ordered things from Amazon UK. because it is much closer so the postage is a lot less. Stay healthy and be well.
Mary, this is fabulous! You have such a wonderful way of transforming trash to treasure! Thank you for sharing @Vintage Charm–pinned!
Thank you Cecilia, and this really was ready for the trash can.
Beautiful transformation Mary, love the look and adding smaller tin cans inside is brilliant. I also save all our tin cans and really need to make a plan to use them or chuck them out – they’re quietly taking over our house, lol 😀
Thanks Michelle. I’ m glad to here that I’m not the only one with a can “problem”. 😉
Hi Mary, I would never have thought to make a ‘vase’ of sorts out of old tin cans. All our tins end up in the recycling bin. I love the effect of the green chalk paint and the burlap ribbon keeps it looking rustic.
All in all a very effective decoration, that I would be very proud of too.
xx
Debbie, it is so easy. In the old days before I discovered Chalk paint I would add contact paper to them. I think I’ve improved a bit.
My cans go in the recycle bin. We have been trying to eat more local and more fresh, so I am finding I have far fewer packages and cans these days. The vase is very nice looking, and I love the pomegranate. I don’t think I have ever seen one in person before. They do not grow here.
I am happy to hear that you are using less cans. That is always prefereable, even to repurposing. The pomegranates grow in warmer climates. If I remember correctly Michele you live in Michigan, then you are out of luck .
Great way to recycle cans! I had some that I added candlesticks to the bottom of and embellished them with fabric and do-dads to make vases.
Tania
That sounds like a great idea Tania. And they must very very pretty and sturdy too. When we repurpose we let our imagination run wild.
Your new vase is so pretty. I love how you combined the bling of the metallic wax with the matte finish of the green and then added in the burlap ribbon. The icing on the cake so to speak are the flowers, both real and burlap.
Debra this project came together so fast. Does that ever happen to you? You just look around your stash and boom! The flowers make all the difference.
Great idea, love this will save my tomatoe sauce cans!
Hugs Maria
Thanks Maria, its an easy project and it’s good for the environment.
I”m right with you on the power of paint thing…if you stand still long enough in my home you’re liable to get a fresh coat of paint. And, I too have not establish boundaries relating to when to stop collecting ‘stuff’. It’s so hard to throw something away when that little voice is saying, ‘but what if you need 57 tin can some day?’…Am I right?
Thanks for sharing the makeover of your can…it’s perfect for your pomegranate branches!
Have a lovely weekend, Lynn
Hahaha!!! You just made my day with that statement Lynn! I also have that little voice in my head and it never goes away. The piles just keep on growing.
Have a wonderful weekend Lynn.
Mary, I love the way you dressed up this coffee can! It was very clever to use two smaller ones to make 4 compartments!! The burlap trim and those flowers are so beautiful together, it gives it a rustic yet soft touch. Those pomegranate branches are just beautiful!! Awesome repurpose!!
I figured this is a good way to use up some of my hoard. Thanks for the sweet compliment Keri.
