Thanksgiving is just a few days away and I know many of you are getting ready for this most blessed of holidays. While we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here in Greece, I do take the time to celebrate it in my own special way.
Today I have asked the help of some very good friends. I’m sharing with you 12 colorful ways to help you prepare for Thanksgiving. Because Thanksgiving should be about decorating as well as food.
A few days before the big day it is a good idea to do some last minute decorating. Mixed Kreations has made a lovely set of pumpkins using wood pieces. What an impact these would make in our homes!
Then we are off to decorate the mantel. Craft Thyme tells us to keep things nice and simple with subtle touches all around.
And how about a wreath to hang on the wall? I made this schizophrenic wreath last year to last throughout the fall season. It has a bit of spooky and lots of warm rustic tones. I think the pattern on the fabric is perfect for Thanksgiving.
And of course it would not be Thanksgiving without the main attraction. Repurposing Junkie shows us how to make this simple and colorful Wood Slice Turkey.
These pretty block letters from A Crafty Mix can easily be made to read “Thankful” or “Grateful” for this particular holiday!
My fall vignette would be perfect as a table centerpiece. I mixed real gourds, pine cones and fake white mini squash to get this effect.
And because we are all watching our budgets, Decor by the Seashore shows us how to be smart and frugal when decorating our Thanksgiving Table.
The decor is ready now how about the place settings? KreativK provides us with some free printables so we can set the table beautifully!
Another lovely idea provided by Pins in a Nutshell is the use of gold leaf! This adds bling to the Thanksgiving table.
And no table setting would be complete without the perfect napkin rings. Nourish and Nestle shows us how to make these adorable felt acorns.

It is right about here that we will all sit down to eat. But before we do, we can open up the Thanksgiving Turkey Blessings Holder. Repurposing Junkie and her family write down their blessings all month long and on Thanksgiving day open the holder and read the blessings. What a wonderful tradition for the kids!
And now it is time for the turkey, yams and pumpkin pie! Recipes for these can be found elsewhere folks. I am a repurposing blogger after all! Of course, I can repurpose Paranoid Man Pumpkin into a pie but that would break my heart at this point.
After we are finished stuffing ourselves we can relax while enjoying some photos of Autumn in all its glory. I had the pleasure of visiting New York in the fall a few years back and enjoyed every photo-taking minute.
Whew, after all of that preparation I am ready for a nap! I hope you can use these 12 colorful ways to help you prepare for Thanksgiving! I’m thankful for all of my friends who kindly allowed me to use their invaluable ideas.
I want to wish all of you a very blessed Thanksgiving and may you enjoy this time with family and friends. Because really no amount of preparation is complete without them.
