Today I would like to share a piece that I made for my daughter. She had many scarves and they were all over the place. I wanted to make some thing to hold the scarves but it had to be narrow because there was not much wall space. Here is what I started out with. This is actually a left over piece but you get the idea. It was just a piece of wood that I found in the basement.
I then bought one of these accordion hooks from the dollar store.
I painted the accordion hooks white. And the wood black.
I added string on top to hang it and some hooks on the bottom. The top and bottom which were painted white were done with chalk paint.
Now she can hang all her scarves and they are easily found. The part I like the best is that this did not take up a lot of space.
What do you think of my solution to the scarf dilemma??

awesome idea! love the background – dramatic but won’t take away from the scarves. I need one of these for sure 🙂
Thank you. It had to be neutral because my daughters room already has too much of the Beatles!

Thanks Fotini. Is that a Greek name? Nice to meet you.
Fab idea. So handy to have them all hanging up so you can see what you’ve got. I bet your daughter was really pleased. I so need one of these in my house!
Thanks for linking up to #LifeLovingLinkie this week and sharing your wonderfully creative posts.
Sally @ Life Loving
I think Sally most women could use one of these in their house. The funny thing is now my daughter keeps accumulating more scarfs… “Sigh”, I may have to make another one.
What a great idea for those accordion hooks! I used to hate them but your idea is great as they are now part of something nicer which is the board. I like the color
Thanks Pili. Yes those accordions are awful by themselves, but with the board they are much sturdier.
I need one of these in my life! I have scarfs everywhere! Thanks for linking to #frifree4all. Todays link up will be live later on this evening. Hope to see you there 🙂
And now with winter on the way we need this more than ever. Hayley thanks for stopping by.
Love this solution to organize the scarves!! The black and white look great and will match the dresser you painted! Great job Mary!!
Keri, this is the other daughter. She of the Beatles persuasion. Her room is full of British flags and such. Also she has a union jack desk. And lots of posters of the Fab Four. The other daughter likes One Direction. That will all change soon enough.
This is a great idea as scarfs can easily get out of control…or they do in my house!!
Thanks for linking up to Marvelous Monday on Smart Party Planning.
This is a teen’s room Catherine. You can imagine how out of control they get…
It’s a great solution Mary! The scarves are organized, it looks so pretty and cost very little! What’s not great about this! I love how you always use stuff you find in your basement and then make something incredible useful and pretty out of it! I’ve said it before….sooner or later I’ll be going into that basement of yours!!! 😉
Katrin, I officially invite you to my basement. Just hold your breath because it’s full of dust. I’m really trying hard to empty it out.
Great idea! I think I would need about 4 of these to hold all my scarves!
Pamela, you’re not kidding. SInce I made this for her she has acquired more scarves, so we’ll have to improvise till I come up with another solution. She can always use it for her belts.
First off, I think your Dollar Store has more fun things than ours! LOL Either that or I just don’t have the same creative brain that you do and I can’t see what something could become.
This is perfect, small enough to hang just about anywhere and it could be used for so many things. Hang them and they become a piece of art in itself!!
Nikki thanks. Now the problem is she’s getting older and I’ll need to make another one. Maybe we can use it for her belts…teens… You know all about that!
What a clever solution, Mary! Thanks so much for sharing @Vintage Charm. Blessings, Cecilia
Cecilia it’s always a pleaure to have you visit.
This is a great idea and a really smart use of the accordion hook!!
Thanks Kim, althought lately my daughter’s scarf collection is increasing . I may need to make another one.
