I am back with another makeover for the bedroom. I had talked about adding stencil to this dresser, but nixed the plan because it would have been too much activity for such a small room. Instead I came up with this idea to make the dresser sparkle with age.
Below is what the dresser looked like before.

Disclosure: I was compensated for doing this post with product. However, all the opinions stated here are my own. I only use products I love and would recommend to my viewers.
This was a fairly easy makeover. The dresser was originally my husband’s and when we got married I painted it white. Of course back then I used some oil based paint – you know the kind that drips all over the place.

I tried sanding it down a bit to see if I could bring the top back to it’s natural wood state but it proved tougher than my sander. Like I mentioned in this post, I decided to embrace my inner farmhouse self and just went with it.

Believe it or not this look has really grown on me. The worn top really reflects the history of this old thing. And I think I owe it some respect.

So when it came time to do something with this dresser I felt a few tweaks were all it needed. In this case, I added these beautiful glass knobs with a nickel base, that D. Lawless and Co. were generous enough to provide me with.

They add just the right amount of sparkle without taking away from the beauty of the age. It is definitely vintage if not older.

I just sanded a few spots to give it a bit more of a worn look. This key hole had been hiding under the paint this whole time. What a nice surprise!

And that is my dresser non-makeover. Simple and oh so easy with just the right amount of bling!

Some things are better left alone…for the most part!

I also added this glass cup and now use it to hang up my dangling earrings. Another super easy idea!

You can see all the projects I’ve done so far by looking at the bottom of this post.

With this dresser done and the two Mid Century pieces finished I am almost finished with this room. Just a few odds and ends left to take care of.
I hope you enjoyed this easy makeover. You see you don’t always have to go overboard to get your vintage dresser to sparkle with age. Just a few tweaks and the job is done!
Make sure you head on over to D. Lawless to see their massive selection of knobs and hooks.

That looks great. Very shabby chic!
Ahh yes, and I will be confusing the room with so many styles.
Awww she looks like a grand old lady now with her sparkles and gentle wear and tear 😉 I’m guessing she’ll be a keeper for many more years
Now thats a makeover I can really copy! I love it Mary. It is just the right touch.

Wow! It’s crazy just what an impact those beautiful knobs had on the piece. My inner farmhouse self is loving this look too, friend.
Perfect! It has so much elegant, chippy, sparkly charm now!
Mary, I love it! That was a good decision to skip the stencil. Love those glass knobs and the way you exposed the keyhole.
Mary, Great decision! I was fortunate to find a great dresser years ago for our guest room, and to this day, I haven’t done a thing with it other than to dust it. It’s perfect as is, just as yours. The knobs gave it just enough bling!
I love your decision to use the glass knobs! They are perfect! Thanks for sharing at Celebrate It!
This turned out so lovely! Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm.Pinned!
I love the difference just some new knobs can make. I did the same to our Ikea chest of drawers when we moved house, they just stop it looking so generically ikea!
Knobs is such a comedic word here, although we do call these handles knobs it also means a person who is a bit of an idiot, most often used for a bloke who is being sexist “he’s a complete knob!” Talk about knobs to any English person and they will start to chuckle – we just can’t help it!
I love crystal knobs Mary. I have also used similar on my closet in our masterbedroom. Your dresser now looks so fresh and modern!!! These knobs are the perfect addition!
Its amazing how knobs can give it a whole different vibe. Love the new look!
It’s all in the details! 😉
The dresser looks just perfect now. The knobs are like jewelry with a classic dresser.
Yes Debra that is exactly what I wanted!
Love it Mary, and those knobs are the perfect choice.
I remember using the oil base paint, and always hated the stuff. Too back we didn’t have the types of paint we have today way back then.
I hated that stuff and am so, so glad we now have really great options.
You are absolutely right that some things are best left alone and that a subtle upgrade can make all the difference. I really do love this — those knobs are great! (Nice idea with the earring mug, too.
Jeanie originally I had wanted to stencil this dresser but quickly realized how much of an overkill it would have been in a room this size. Those knobs are the prefect touch!
Is it me or has hardware gotten more beautiful lately? There are so many choices it’s hard to decide, but one thing is certain, the right hardware can elevate a piece just like the right earrings ;).

Yes indeed Doreen, I always get crazy from indecision whenever I have to choose something from this great company.
It looks great Mary! I really like the idea with the glass cup for the earrings. Smart tip!
It’s great for when you want to keep a few in front of you and don’t need a big jewelry thingy.
…what is it about worn paint that is so appealing?
Haha Tom we are all a certain age so we can appreciate the wear and tear!
Love that touch of sparkle. We have similar pulls on one of our antique dressers. So smart to repurpose your kitchen ones
