With Halloween fast approaching I thought it would be a good time to share some fun Halloween ideas from Household Items that my blogger friends and I came up with. They are easy to make so we can all be ready for the big day.
Who doesn't have a spare strainer lying around the house? Linda of Mixed Kreations came up with this great decor idea using a metal vintage strainer to make a Jack O Lantern. What a clever idea for such a pretty face!
I personally have way too many cutting boards at home. And how many can you use at once anyway? Why not put the rest to good use and transform them like Carlene of Organized Clutter did! She made not one, but two adorable Halloween signs with them.
Of course if you are looking for a fall decor idea Keri of Repurposing Junkie has just the idea with this lovely stencil which you can also get on her blog.
What about bottles I sure have more than my share, in fact I display them as is. But I also really love this idea by Susan of Homeroad and how she turned them into DIY Elixir Bottles for Halloween. I need to find those stickers!
I also repurposed wine bottles but in an entirely different way. Instead of making labels or using new ones I simply painted them with chalkboard paint. Now they are ready for anything you want to write on them.
Got no time for crafting? Then this is a super fast idea and you only need a few items. Leave it to Heather of Heathered Nest to come up with such a cute idea and she even provides us with a video!
Everyone has plastic juice bottles. Instead of throwing them out do like Debbie of Confessions of a Plate Addict and re-purpose them into these cute Country Living Inspired Jack O Lantern Candlesticks.
This has to be the cutest Halloween ghost I've ever seen! And you would never guess it was made from a garden shovel! Victoria of Dazzled While Frazzled shows us how to make one And your garden will thank you for it.
Here is a super thrifty idea from Chelsea of Making Manzanita. She took a few fence boards and turned them into these adorable Halloween Porch Decorations. I know I have a few of these boards somewhere and you do too!
What do you do when there is a costume and pumpkin carving contest going on and you don't have prizes? You give these pretty ribbons like Bliss Ranch Malone did! She whipped them up in no time while the contest was going on! You have to see the winning pumpkin!
Got a tin can lying around? Then you have an instant Jack O Lantern. Jane and Sonja of Sustain My Craft have come up with this nifty idea and there are also a whole bunch more on the site.
Can you guess what is hiding underneath that witch? Neither could I until I saw the video from Maureen of Red Cottage Chronicles. I promise it is something you have at home! And once you see it too you can also make a super cool witch!

And even lovers can celebrate Halloween with this re-purposed clock into a ghost mirror spooky Halloween decor from Michelle of A Crafty Mix. How sweet is that couple?
Embroidery hoops? Check! This simple wreath by Greg and Handan of The Navage Patch is so easy to make and yet so creepy you will go running to find some hoops for yourself.
And finally, another way to decorate for Halloween is to re-purpose tin cans into mummies like I did here. There are so many things you can do to them to make them fun and spooky! And let's not forget that painted gourd which may not be a household item, but it may be at this time of the year.
Well, I think I have taken care of Halloween for you this year. But you will have to do the candy shopping on your own! I hope you too will look around your home at the household items and think of re-purposing them into Halloween decor. I want to thank all of my blogger friends who were kind enough to let me share their great ideas and I hope you will visit each and every one of them.
Do you go all out for Halloween? My kids love to dress up and start planning weeks in advance for the big day!
